We booked a two day tour in Oman with Zahara tours. Of 10 or so stops on the itinerary, we only visited one and saw one more from the expressway. The reasons given were many and varied, including they didn't have their normal car which can access the site (this was a favourite), your plane was late (it wasn't), the site is closed as its Friday, your printed itinerary differs from ours and this must be your problem, and you have too many people to do the sand dune drive. No substitute activities were offered. On the second day, we spent seven hours in a car on the expressway with only one stop at a sinkhole (which was lovely). We had to beg to stop for lunch and ate at a petrol station!! With three small children in the car, you can imagine how much fun it was. It was difficult to hear the 'driver/guide' and he did not want to talk, and did not seem knowledgeable when we could get anything out of him. The tour company office was aware this was occurring and did nothing to assist. They just stopped answering the phone. Really unimpressed.
