Great Experience
My wife and I had a wonderful safari experience, thanks to Wild Race and the organisational skills of the person I dealt with.
Wild Race were marginally cheaper than a plethor of companies offering a similar package, and the person I dealt with reaponded efficiently and clearly, so I chose them. I must admit, i felt a little sceptical when I was asked to pay 25% to a kenyan bank account to reserve our place. But after reading a billion forums, I realised this was fairly standard practice for tour operators, despite being a little unsafe for the customer.
When we arrived at Kili airport, there was a driver waiting for us to take us to our hotel. We then met company management at their office and paid the remaining balance.
We opted for the budget camping safari, and paid around $800/person for the whole trip. The tour was fantastic, in every way.
The camping was basic, but thats what we expected. The tents were nice and there were always shower factilites and toilets etc at each camp.
The food at all times was a little better than expected. A hearty breakfast each day, great packed lunches, and nice evening meals. Nobody went hungry! Plenty of water and tea and coffee were also provided.
Our driver was of Massai heritage. He was very knowledgable and courteous, and had good english. He went over and above for us at times, especially in picking up some beer and wine for the evenings!
The game drives were amazing, with serengeti probably being my fave. Ngorongoro was amazing too, bit was quite a bit colder than the others, so definitely pack some long sleeve jumpers etc. We had a great vehicle with chargers built in for our phones and cameras. All in all, the safari experience exceeded my expections.
The person I dealt with and Wild Race are a company to trust, and would reccomend them to anyone. Lots of companies tend to go in convoy, and use similar camps/chefs etc. Many guests eat/shower together and it is often hard to differentiate between who has booked through who, and paid for what. Its a bit of a minefield with so many companies around, but Wild Race are definitely one of the good guys, and I cant reccomend them enough.
Beautiful Safari, Easy Booking
I booked a five days Tanzania safari and booking was very smooth and easy. The person I dealt with patiently and timely provided all the information I requested. It was a joining group safari with lodge accommodation. The safari was done by Tanzanian branch, all logistics worked perfectly even taking into the account the fact that our group changed a bit in the middle of the trip and that other people in the car were doing camping option. The company also told me that I can choose any starting day and any safari option and they will accommodate it.
The safari itself included visits to four national parks in the North of Tanzania: Tarangire, Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. We saw plenty of animals, saw big five, all five days were exciting and amazing. The parks are very different and each is very special. Lodges which were booked for me were great. The pick up and drop off from/to airport were also included and were on time, in clean nice cars and with good driver.
The entire experience was very positive.
