We were planning a trip to Eastern Europe and considered several tours provided by various travel agencies. Vantage World Travel of Greenville, South Carolina, offered a bus tour that appealed to us. When we indicated to the Vantage travel agent that we were reluctant to purchase the tour because of a past experience with a large tour group, and because there were less expensive tours available from other travel agencies, we were told by the Vantage travel agent that there would be "no more that 10 tourists" on the bus. We were thrilled to be on a more personal tour and so we purchased the tour, even though it cost $3000 more than similar tours.

To our total shock and disappointment, upon meeting the tour operator in Vienna, we learned that there were 38 tourists on our bus tour! In response to our many emails to Vantage World Travel we were simply told that Vantage World Travel does not guarantee the size of the tour group.

In an effort to resolve this matter we filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. In this process with the BBB, the Vantage travel agent denied ever having said that there would be 10 people or fewer on the tour. We were unable to resolve the dispute with the help of the BBB. The BBB advised us that since nothing was in writing, there was nothing they could do. We learned a most painful lesson. Get it in writing !!!
