AVOID - unless you want to be disappointed

I booked a family suite hotel through TR around about January. As you will know, most of us book in advance to get the best deals and in this case, I paid approx. £1700 (for 6 nights) for a hotel back in January. My hotel was booked for August and a hotel voucher was issued around 2 weeks prior to the hotel stay.

All was well until 1 week before flying where TR had informed me that, their third party supplier had gone bust, and as a result my hotel booking is no longer available. They offered me a refund or book another hotel through their portal (but I have to pay the difference).

Everyone knows that last minute bookings are hard to find, especially for kids - unless you are willing to pay the inflated prices. I did ask TR to compensate through no fault of my own and give me a similar hotel which I booked. The hotels I proposed weren't extravagant, they were similar hotels which was around £600 more than what I paid - purely because of the price hike. I don't think I was being unreasonable. TR refused. Instead, they offered me another hotel with rubbish reviews for the same price I paid in January. I shopped around and even in August this hotel was charging £1,500 - and TR had the audacity to tell me that this hotel is costing them £1,700 - they asked to provide evidence and so I did - they then came back and said they couldn't match the offer (so why ask me for it - perhaps they thought I was lying?).

In the end, I had no choice and opted for my refund and booked another hotel by topping up the £1,700.

TR claim they are a big company but they are not - they're exploiting the average tourist and getting away with it. I will be writing to ABTA and others when I get a chance because I have had enough of these bullies doing what they like without any consequences. They should be held to account - as they are not the ones losing money - I had to pay over £800 (£2500) for another hotel at the same time which I could have got for less money, had I booked in January...

Travel Republic had the best offer for our hotel, on the internet! It was almost too good to be true. As a new user, I checked TrustPilot reviews and Review Centre -- they were very positive!

I decided to book the hotel and was impressed at how easy the website is to navigate, and the quickness in receiving the booking confirmation (both the Travel Republic booking reference and the official hotel booking reference).

We just came back yesterday from our holiday and had no issues with our booking. Highly recommend using Travel Republic, and have already shared their website with family, friends, and colleagues!

Booked flight seats as a group of 6 - Sun Express

Checked in on line - 3 with extra leg room seats 2 DE an F - my wife, my daughter and myself.

Dropped off hold baggage - received printed flight tickets to complement our on line log in

I have 2 snapped leg tendons and they are literally tied together with twine following 2 operations and I suffered a heart attack last January - stent fitted - that’s why we needed extra leg room

My wife is 77 and I will be 76 in January

My wife is frail and suffers from many age related illnesses.

One of my grandchildren suffers from Autism and he gets very confused. He was reassured because he was travelling with his grandparents

We were stopped at the boarding gate and told that our seats had been given to 2 other passengers

We explained at length about our circumstances but the staff did not want to reverse the stupid decision to give our seats to able bodied strangers

I offered to go on board and talk to the couple who had been given our seats but my offer was refused

Eventually a female member of Sun Express went onto the plane to talk to the couple.When she returned all she said was that the couple did not want to move from our seats.

We were told that we would have extra leg room seats and that out only other option was to miss the flight

We reluctantly boarded and were given seats 16 E and F - after the plane took off other passengers informed us that the seats we were given had to be occupied by able bodied adults because of the need to open the emergency door etc. A farce.

My daughter had to sit next to the unpleasant and able bodied couple who had been given our seats. A very unpleasant start to a holiday.

The couple stated that they didn’t want to move seats because they liked our seats.

We do not understand why this couple were not given the extra legroom seats in row 16

Travel Republic must take issue with Sun Express to ensure that this situation does not happen to any other customers.

An easy and straight forward booking process. Monthly payment option is an added bonus. Everything was explained in detail and no problems at all. Decent price too. Will definitely use again.

Vaguely annoying checking in with Easy Jet as you have to go in with a booking Ref and not through your existing account (if you have one). Would definitely use TR again.
