Better Than Disney By Far
we've visited portaventura twice now and stayed in the portaventura hotel, we plan a trip back there this year too. i love this hotel, rooms are clean with a MASSIVE bed for wondering youngsters who wont stay in their beds. the food is fantastic and such a wide range to choose from. i love that its right on the doorstep of both parks. the last time we went was in august so the park was open til midnight, this is fab because we spent the hot sunny days on the beach rather than queuing for rides in the sweltering heat and then after our evening meal would head off into the park. the beach in salou is clean with the usual activities, lovely clear blue sea and really is only about a 15 min walk (when you find the shortcut). i have been to disney paris once and disney world in orlando 5 times, i much prefer portaventura because of the short flight, nicer food, you can walk wherever you need to go (hire car no at all needede)and the weather is just as nice, personally i love having the beach at walking distance, in disney i kinda felt trapped unless you have transport and not worried about the daunting traffic, i love the spanish pace, its all a bit more relaxed. the only grumble i have is that last time our sliding back door in our room opened into some thick folidge which harboured lots of bugs and spiders, due to this we didnt open the door so found it hard to dry off our wet stuff. the childrens park isnt all that and was closed when we were there in 2011, i hear they have had a re vamp so hopefully this has been inproved but to be honest there is so much to do the childrens park wasnt missed. pools are lovely and there are lots of room to relax. love it, love it, love it
El Paso Hotel
I have just come back from the el paso on the 4th july 12 after 4 fantastic days.
The food was brill ,I am like a kid in a sweet shop when it comes to the food ,lots off different food, cakes, there was alot of alcohol that was free, soft drinks ,coffee at all the bars, ice cream,if you wanted crisps or a magnum it was only 80c to a euro. The staff were very nice,.
as soon as you plate was empty they had it cleared away, any rubbish that hit the ground bearly hit the ground and it was swept up.After leaving the bar one night at 00:30 we went to reception and asked for a extra pillow,it was nearly at the room before we got there. How quick is that?
It was my 5th time in salo and i would say go and stay at the el paso you will enjoy it.

Great For Family Holidays With Young Children
I went to PortAventura in May with my husband and four children (aged 2 - 8). We were researching for quite some time, a holiday that would be perfect for all of us and we came across PortAventura Holidays. We were thrilled to find out the facilities and activities available at the park, as well as being able to cater our own requirements. We stayed in the bungalows at Hotel Gold River for its self catering facilities. The hotel also had 2 swimming pools as well as one for kids. The theme park itself was fantastic! We were able to entertain the kids for hours in SesamoAventura, an areas specifically just for kids, and they loved it, and we even managed to get a go on their new ride Shambhala - Europes tallest roller coaster! I will definitely be recommending PortAventura Holidays Ireland to friends and family and will definitely look to go again in the near future - We had sooo much fun!
Young Families Only
7 day all-inc (my 1st and last!), 2A, 2Teens June 12.
Hotel : oldest self-contained in PVA chain.
Located : remote from Salou, before theme park. If hot, walk to Salou advised for Lawrence of Arabia only. hotel bus (free - limited), Salou 'road train' costly. Taxi 8E each way.
Hotel: outside ok, inside worn/tired/jaded stained upholstery, carpets.
Room: basic and generally 'tired'.
Clenliness : Good, but on closer inspection, actually questionable.
Staff: Good
Meals: Good, but El Coyote 'special night' a joke. It was awful.
Main Restaurant: functional, reminded me of Butlins.
Water: Essential, but fonts continually ran out.
Entertainment: standard fare, focus for small children
Who For : Families with small children who like Butlins in a hot country
Not for: Everyone else. It just isn't suitable.
Wish I had a review like this before I booked.
Theme Park : yes unlimited access, however if you did not want to wait 2.5hrs per ride then you have to buy an express band. More money.
All inc food in park ? Very limited and at certain locations.
Also, check out 11am, to keep room, another 50E hit.
Great!!
I THOUGHT THE RIDES WERE BRILLIANT BUT THE ONLY THING THAT I THOUGHT THAT WAS BAD ABOUT THE TRIP WAS THE MONEY IT WAS REALLY DEAR TO BUY LIKE 1 THING
Most Awsome Holiday
Myself, my husband and 3 daughters have just returned from the most amazing holiday. We went to the same hotel we stayed in 8years ago and it was fantastic.
The water park was loads of fun and huge last time it was only half open as out of season so this time was wow.
We have quite a range of ages 17,15 and 6 and all of them had a blast, it nice now that they have a section in the park for the younger ones to access.
I used this site this time as it was so much cheaper than using the travel agents, which I used last time.
I can not fault this is ran all so smoothly all the pick ups drop offs and meeting times ect were really really good.
I would use it again and would recommend it to anyone.
:)
Brilliant For Group Holidays
I recently went to PortAventura in a large group of 18. As you can imagine booking flights, transfers and accommodation for us all could be a nightmare, but to my delight it was a breeze! I booked with PortAventura Holidays but realised I could not book that many people online, so decided to call them instead. As I dreaded the long wait for the phone call to be answered, I was pleasantly greeted by a friendly voice who answered promptly. She was very helpful and told me all I needed to know from room types available and dining options to the new rides and features at the park. The entire booking process was very easy and I managed to book everything in one phone call with added extras included with a very good price. If you're looking for a group holiday abroad PortAventura is definitely one to try! So easy to book and we all had a fantastic time :)
Portaventura Trip Review - Not To Be Missed! 12th May
I stayed here with a group of friends for a long weekend in early May 2012, and I really enjoyed it here.
The theme park is very large with so much to do, it was difficult to try and see it all! So many shows, attractions and different areas to visit.
My favourite ride in the park had to be Shambala, a brand new, ridiculously tall 250 ft roller coaster which starts off with a ridiculously steep drop going into a spiral of twists and turns. It usually results in grown men holding on for dear life like no tomorrow.
Our group had the pleasure of seeing the Polynesian show, which was really good fun. They got all of us up on the stage doing the haka, which was hilarious!
Our hotel room was a normal standard hotel, nice antd clean with a massive bed. No complaints there.
All of the restaurants have a high standard, with exceptional food, especially the Torres Tapas restaurant next to Furious Baco. I seriously had some of the best tapas there I've ever had in my life!
The weather for the majority of our stay was nice and sunny. It got a little windy at some points, but didn't stop us indulging in all the fun!
I really recommend Portaventura holidays, it's perfect for a long weekend.
Fun Thrills Again!
This was my second trip to PortAventura booked through PortAventura Holidays who seemed to have the best prices - again. We were a group of adults but we ran around the park like big kids enjoying a few beers along the way. The rides are amazing - Furious Baco and Shambala were my faves, even the Sesamo area for kids was worth a look!
We were a bit unlucky with the weather, which was a shame as really enjoyed relaxing by the pool last year. I think I'd go back to Gold River over Hotel PortAventura but both were good.
The food was consistently good - loads of fresh fruit and all you could eat breakfast and dinner.
Q&A
Are there any spa facilities at the Portaventura hotel?
