Tempted by a price for a cruise on the Gocruise.co.uk website I rang the booking number only to be quoted a cost that was £200 more per person. The agent, Val told me the price online had been 'loaded in wrong'. This is misleading pricing bordering on false advertising. An infuriating waste of time.

A friend recommended gocruise to me having been on holiday with them himself. I rang the number on the website and was put through to a polite young woman who dealt with my requests efficiently and courteously. She advised me and my wife on which cruise would be suitable for us and I feel she chose well.

I was impressed with the size of the ship. Having travelled with Fred. Olsen (on the Boudicca) before I was expecting a small ship, however the Balmoral was noticeably larger. I was pleased with the variety of food on offer and also with the reasonably priced wine. The cabin was a decent size, nicely furnished and very clean. The ship’s excursions were fun, good value and gave us a good feel for the port towns.

We booked last minute through gocruise.co.uk which meant we paid a fraction of what we did last time. Having been on Fred. Olsen cruises before we knew exactly what to expect. Having smaller ships means the feel is completely different than that of other cruise liners. The staff were lovely as ever and the ship was kept very clean. I did feel this voyage was more crowded than ones we’d been on previously but the people were nice and it didn’t really turn out to be a bad thing at all.

The entertainment on board was good, especially the comedian don reid who told some hilarious stories, amazing energy for a man of his age. All in all we had a good time, maybe not as good as our last cruise but still very good. I would recommend this type of cruise to anyone around the years 65-80.

This was our second cruise with gocruise and it didn’t disappoint! Weather was fine, the staff were good and the ship even better! Our cabin was quite small but was clean and nicely furnished. The cabin stewardess was incredibly polite and attentive. She made sure we were cared for from the very start. The daytime activities were varied and the entertainment was good, I especially enjoyed the pianist on the second night.

I’d recommend gocruise/fred olsen to anyone looking for a good value cruise. As mentioned earlier, this was our second voyage with them, but it won’t be our last!

We booked our cruise via Gocruise.co.uk and I can have no complaints with them. We were unsure which cruise to go on but after a discussion with one of the gocruise agents we decided on the Boudicca. Although quite an old ship, the boudicca still has its charm. There was a slight delay before embarkation but the staff apologised and we were soon on our way. Although we had been on cruises before, this was the first time we had used fred olsen. The ship was smaller than I had expected but I think this was actually a positive thing. The small size of the ship meant we didn’t have to walk very far for food/entertainment (both of which were good quality). The clientele were mostly British couples around our age and both my husband and I feel we made some genuine friends (we still keep in touch!)

My only complaints were that I sometimes found the daytime activities clashed with other activities I wished to participate in, also there could have been more storage space in the cabin.

Despite these minor criticisms I thoroughly enjoyed my cruise with fred olsen and would recommend them to others looking for a cruise with that classic ‘british feel’.

A happy couple!

This was our second cruise on the balmoral and was just as enjoyable as our first. We were alocated a nice, clean, spatious cabin near the front of the ship and were looked after by a friendly hostess. We chose to eat at 6:30pm which I found quite early for our main meal…the food was plain but very nice and there was a good selection of wines on offer. I would like to have had more choice when choosing dinner time as 6.30 was too early but (the other option) 8pm too late. However, the evenings entertainment was so good we soon forgot about our early dinner.

We have been on holiday with other cruise lines and have been left disappointed. I see no reason to choose anyone other than fred. olsen as I’ve always been happy with the service.

Great cruise with great staff and great people. We had an outside cabin which was plenty big enough from me and the wife (having left the kids at home this time!) Despite not being the ‘normal’ age for cruising me and my wife had a great time. Although most of the passengers are of the ‘older generation’ they were great fun and we’d usually end up turning in before them! The food was really good and the places we visited were stunning (especially St. Petersburg).

This was our first cruise but we’ll definitely be going on one again. 5 stars!
