9flats Does Not Pay Hosts

Many hosts are waiting for their money. 9flats is not paying, saying there is ´an error in the sysem´. I am waiting for weeks now to get my bill payed for which I worked hard. Remove your listing when you are a host and don´t book with 9flats if you are looking for accomodation. There are companies which are more thrustworthy. The fear is of 9flats going banktrupt soon.

Trickster Company.

Tricky company. They forwarded my request onto another entirely unsuitable apartment on their books whilst my enquiry was pending and then try to trick you into clicking the CONFIRM BOOKING - with me thinking it was my original request. My advice - avoid !

9flats Lazagara Sorrento Apartment Contaminated With Mold

Our apartment "La Zagara" in Sorrento Italy was contaminated with mold. We had no choice but to walk and find another place on our own. 9flats obviously hadn't vetted the place and wanted to accommodate us in the same building but the entire building smelled of mold. They were unwilling to refund any deposit and nasty about it too. Do not use these guys as they are not someone you should do business with.. we met people who had good luck with AirBNB..

Very Poor Customer Service

I used 9flats to book an apartment in Vienna in Oct 2013. The apartment itself was as described and the owner was very easy to deal with. However, I did have a small issue which I had to raise with 9Flats, and their customer service was appalling! They would reply to my emails with terse, 1 sentence emails along the lines of "I already told you ......" when they hadn't, and when I asked for clarification of what they meant, the reply was again "I already told you...". Perhaps what they had and had not told me had slipped their mind since it took several weeks for them to reply to my first email and 31 days for them to reply to the second! So no, I do not recommend using 9Flats and would never do so again.

Do Not Use Them

I would never book with 9flats again, and would advise others not to use them.

I booked an apartment in Paris back in October for New Years Eve. I have been advised this morning (19/12/13) that this is being cancelled. The host has given no reason for the cancellation which I thought they had to do, and thinks that under two weeks notice is sufficient even though he knows how hard it is to book during the holidays.

As a guest you have to compensate should you cancel, as a host they can ruin your trip and have no obligation to offer compensation and 9flats simply offered to do another search which I had already done. They ended up offering 50 euros as a good will gesture, I am however now looking at an additional 500 euros to book a hotel at this late stage.

To make matters worse, you are unable to leave a review stating this on the hosts site, he therefore keeps his good status and can do this to others who are unaware that he cancels at the last minute.

Hosts Be Aware!!!

9flats.com is a terribly horrible service, especially when you're host!!!

I had my listings on instant booking where they're charging 12% commission but when the customer booked I realized they have taken 15%. I tried talk to them, their web form doesn't work at all, anyway after couple of days I managed to contact them and all they do is quoting their own polices.

Now, I've just wanted to login to my account but it doesn't exist anymore. I guess I'm not gonna get paid. Anyone knows how to deal with things like this? Regards

We Booked A Nice Looking One Bedroom Apartment. Ev

We booked a nice looking one bedroom apartment. Everything went fine, even though we were a bit unhappy with them taking the FULL FEE upfront, at the time of booking, along with a no-cancellation policy. We reached NYC in June 2013 and as we entered the apartment we realised to our absolute horror, that we had been scammed. The apartment looks NOTHING like the pictures - the furniture is dirty, old, and tattered. The bathroom and kitchenette were disgusting and filthy. We had been charged a $90 cleaning fee but it was clear that the place hadn't been cleaned for months. The bedding and towels was torn and stained. The whole building stank of the restaurant downstairs. And we were paying $250 a night for this! Our calls to the "property manager" were met with uncouth rudeness, and he refused to come over in response to our complaints. We left the property immediately and booked ourselves into a hotel. On our return, we had to negotiate with 9flats for over 3 weeks before our money was finally refunded - and this, only after we threatened to complain because we found that the property was actually illegal!

Vincent Scott is the owner of this property and several others around New York. Beware this man and beware booking on 9flats.com, as even though we finally have our money back, 9flats.com is STILL listing this property as well as others run by him, all of which are illegal. We will NEVER use this site again.

Fue Todo Genial

We were in Madrid, everything was perfect, the owner was friendly and impeccable with everything, had a great vacation. The customer service was more than adequate and helped us in everything that we need, just call and ask accommodation in that area and they took care of contact with the owner and give us the offers. I advise everyone who likes to travel and settle into an apartment or house, it's always better to be in a hotel with their schedules and so, there are loads of places to stay and you can find really low prices. Do not hesitate to publish my house for rent when I travel, it might be nice to share accommodation between people who come to the same place where you live and you go to yours, would be very interesting ...

The Best Way Of Travelling

I just like the idea of spending my City trips in a flat, with the amenities I need, well placed and together with my friends, even cheaper than a Hotel. I discovered this way of travelling with 9flats visiting Berlin. It was easy to find a place and booked through the Webpage, we did not have any problem. Our host was very kind and helped us with many tips for the city, flohmarkts, bars, restaurants, parties, more than what you can find in the guide tours. I really recomend.

Questionable Ethics

I found a "luxury condominium" listed for $531 for three nights. It was a great find, so I sent in my booking to the owner, who replied that it was not available. It was then listed for $3450 for the same three dates. Fortunately I sent an email to myself with the booking dates and costs. When I used this to justify my booking, I was told there was nothing they could do about it. So I've never used 9flats before and probably will never use them again...it was a waste of time looking at and trying to book a unit. I also question the ethics of the owner who used a "bait and switch" technique to try to get his unit rented. In my mind, not the way to do business or view potential customers.

Completely agree with this review, we too have had a similar bad experience where we we realised we had been done only after we reached the "luxury" apartment in New York (that had stained and torn bedding, disgustingly filthy bathroom and kitchen and no lights). 9fltas refunded our money after 3 weeks of stern negotiations with them but they are STILL listing the apartment on their site even though theyy have acknowledged to us that it is a bad scheme! Have posted an independent review, hopefully it will show up here soon. Stay away from 9flats until they become more ethical!
