“Friendly, good value grass court club”

★★★★★

written by on 02/06/2018

This is an old and respected club that has incorporated Colchester Lawn TC and now boasts 9 grass courts, all of which are in fair but not tip-top condition. There are no floodlights but there is a decent clubhouse which has facilities for making drinks and small meals, there are changing rooms with showers and toilets and ample parking for cars and bikes. Around 70+ members which means most know each other, at least by sight. Several teams in various local divisions for competitive play. Discounts for students available. Fences & nets need upgrading and the installation of windbreaks would be useful due to the placement next to open fields. Overall, a pleasant place to spend time playing decent tennis. However, it's possibly not the best place to start for beginners as there is no full-time coach (no lessons available).
