“Disappointing Student Accommodation, avoid at ALL costs.”

Unite overall are a very, very greedy and self centered company. But about St Teresa, the cost (£97 a week) is over the top, by a long way, for the whole building, we had 2 washing machines and 2 dryers, all 4 of them broke down regularly as if it was an appointment, the dryers did not dry ANYTHING properly, and to do a wash+dry cost a grand total of £3.50, usually ending up £4.50 due to having to do 2 dryer cycles per wash, even that on a student budget is too much money.
The flat is not worth the rent, we got very little compared to what we payed, not even a TV or TV License, then again, we did not even have a communal area to relax and talk in, just a couple of torn "sofas" (chairs with cushions in them)in the kitchen. The room are tiny, 5-6ft wide and about 12-15ft long
The shower room did not have adequate ventilation so if it was left with the door closed mold would appear over night, but we couldn't leave the door open after a shower, because the fire alarm would go off if we did. fire alarms went off at least 2-3 times a week, but that's student accommodation for you. We did not have a cleaner for communal areas (which, for £97 I would expect to be).
Reception is completely useless, as its open usually just a couple of hours a day, and unfortunately all parcels go down there and you need to pick them up, so if you have Lectures, its very, very inconvenient.
Then it comes to the end of the year, and I could not wait to move into my new place (which costs £100 a week and I get a room double the size, a lounge etc), but more disappointing is when you find out that a lot of the £250 deposit is gone, such as £65 for a chip in the paint(about the size of the tip of your thumb) and that was there before I moved in! I could fix a job like that for free! So I advise anyone who is offered a place with Unite to steer well clear of them! You will only lose more money than it's worth.
