As an iron this is as good as any other iron. However where it is hopelessly bad is the area that is a problem with most steam irons - namely scaling. Other irons adopt a sensible approach and tell you to use de-mineralised / ironing water to avoid scaling. Bosch have come up with a "technology" that claims to make the iron descale itself. IT DOES NOT WORK. First they warn you NOT to use ironing water as "this iron has been designed to use normal tap water" Then they provide instructions on the descaling process which are completely incomprehensible and so badly written that they are a Health and Safety accident waiting to happen. They tell you to fill the iron with water, heat it up to the highest possible setting so the iron is full of boiling water, and then remove one component and hold the iron over the sink at which point they say that "steam and boiling water will flow from the iron taking with it any scale deposits". However they DON'T say what position to hold the iron OR where this "steam and boiloing water" will flow from. Unbelievably dangerous. And even then, the descaling system does not work ! After a year or so of use, the iron will start to spit water all over the place and the only option - which we have just done - is to chiuck it in the bin and buy a new one - which will DEFINITELY NOT be a Bosch one. AVOID ANY BOSCH IRON THAT CLAIMS TO INCLUDE AUTOMATIC "ANTI_SCALING" !
