After years of being a happy steam iron user, a steam generator iron seemed a pointless luxury - but after having tried one (Philips PerfectCare GC9230/02I) am impressed by the how fast I get through the ironing and how little effort is required even with the heaviest of fabrics such as jeans. Having spent the afternoon ironing silk union jacks I can vouch for the fact that no matter how long you hold the iron on a delicate fabric there was no burn or scorch as you would expect.
If you buy this make sure you look at the ironing board to, it's vast - which again helps get through your shirts faster as there are less turns to make. There are side flaps that rise up to let you iron the chest/collar area. It's sturdy with a handy support for the ironing flex - which is great as my last irons' lead would fray as it rubbed against the metal of the stand.
All-round a good investment if you want to cut your time spent ironing or have lots of delicate fabrics to iron.
