I’ve been using City Spreads for a few weeks now and I can’t say a bad word about it. The currency spread options are great - I especially like the chance to work with the smaller currencies and not just have to rely on making returns from standard GBP/EUR/USD. It’s also really easy to use, and its intuitive interface, clear spread graphs and quick-response helpdesk make it a great choice for anyone who’s just starting out. The best feature, though, has to be the trailing stops - I can’t tell you how many times these have helped me to maximise my daily return and cut my losses at the same time. Can’t wait until it’s finally available on MT4

The best feature of City Spreads for me is probably the mobile trading. The app’s free to download from the App Store, and the ability to trade wherever I am is incredibly useful, along with the real-time updates and multi-touch functions. (There’s also a HTML5 mobile site for Android and Blackberry users, incidentally.) Mobile features aside, this is a great platform for spread betting – I found the browser platform to be a bit difficult to work out at first, but there’s a fair bit of info on-site that helped me get a handle on it. The automatic stop losses and trailing stops on trades serve to minimise risk, and the tight spreads on quite a few varied markets was another major plus point. A very well-integrated and easy to use spread betting platform, particularly in the case of the mobile app.

As someone relatively new to financial spread betting, I was pleased with the way in which CitySpreads made it easy to get started without any financial risk. The key to this is obviously the demo platform which gives you £10,000 in virtual currency to trade on various markets – this demo platform took about five minutes to sign up for and was a very accurate approximation of the full version, so having spent some time with the demo I was more than ready to trade real funds with confidence. Even then, the spread betting isn’t high-risk really, since I was able to trade as little as £1 per point on some markets. In addition, the trailing stops meant that I could control my bets without having to watch everything at once. The layout is rather bland but ultimately functional, and most of the information you need is generally easy to access (I particularly liked the news feed in the bottom right corner, which was definitely helpful when considering trades). There’s also a nice variety of markets to trade on, including a good range of currency pairs. Certainly a platform I’ll continue to use in future, and one I’d recommend to others.

City Spreads is definitely one of the better platforms online for financial spread betting that I have come across. One of the most useful features for me was the demo platform to test trading – rather than being a stripped-down version of the full platform, it’s actually very similar, and it was invaluable in helping me to get to grips with how the platform worked without having to put cash in straightaway. The layout of the browser interface is very clean and without unnecessary frills, and there’s plenty of documentation so all the information you need is near to hand. As for the trading itself, the emphasis seems to be on reducing risk; all trades have automatic stop losses applied to them, and the introduction of trailing stops gives me more control over my bets. The platform offers some really tight spreads, particularly on currency pairs – €/$ is only one point, for instance, and £/$ is two points. All in all, I would definitely recommend this platform.

I was very happy with my experience on the City Spreads platform. There’s a great selection of CFD markets to really get your teeth into, and I’ve been particularly impressed by their super-tight margins - better than most other spread betting sites. After spending a few months with a different provider I was a little nervous about switching, but the top-quality demo account gave me a real flavour of what to expect, and it wasn’t far off the real thing. The education section is a great idea for newcomers (and a good refresher if you haven’t made a bet for a while!). The charts are pretty easy to understand too, and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this site to my friends.

I was a little nervous about putting cash in straightaway, but they have a demo trading platform which allows you to get to grips with the ins and outs of trading with no risk. They are pretty keen on minimising the risk to users, so there are automatic stop losses applied to every trade, which protect your money from massive losses if things go wrong. These are limited though, and are not guaranteed if the market gaps, but I did have the option to purchase extra protection as well. I particularly like the fully integrated iPhone app and mobile website as they mean that I can make trades on the go. The best part is you don’t need lots of money to get involved – you can trade as little as £1 per point.

CitySpreads have put together a really accessible trading platform that makes it easy to place spread bets and trade CFDs. I had all the information I needed at my fingertips - tradable items are divided into categories (shares, indices, commodities, etc.) and you can access charts for each item, which helps you to understand how well they have performed in the past. The trailing stops are also really helpful for managing your risk without damaging the potential profits of your trade, and they’re reasonably priced too. New users can trade risk-free with the demo platform, as I did first of all - there is lots of helpful information on the CitySpreads website (in their ‘Education Centre’) that made it easy for me to get started. I found that the range of trades that I could bet on was quite diverse, including traditional shares and indices such as the Nasdaq, along with commodities and a range of foreign currency exchange bets. All of these could be traded in the form of either spread bets or CFDs. All in all, I found the service easy to get to grips with, which was great for a newcomer like me.

Their CFD offerings are great and the tight margins offered on many of their markets (such as the UK 100) put CitySpreads ahead of some other spreadbetting platforms that I’ve used previously.

I have tried a number of spread betting platforms in the past and Cityspreads is certainly one of the best I’ve come across. The tight margins offered on their platform make every stake that bit more profitable, which is essentially what you want out of a spread betting platform perhaps more than anything. Their trailing stops, which monitor your bets and stop them according to whatever you specify, mean you don’t have to watch everything like a hawk. The layout is nicely done too, with all of the (thousands of) available markets organised into drop-down menus so the screen is never overcrowded. A quick trading menu even lets you save your preferred markets to the side of the screen so you don’t have to hunt for them each time you sign in. Overall, a great spread betting platform.
