With the chapter on choosing fabrics, the author had my attention. Picking the right colors is one of the harder things for me when sewing a quilt. She discusses just how to do that. After the chapters on basic quilting techniques and quilting decisions, Ms. Abrey provides a dozen quilts that show just how the color choices work so well together. Plus she gives you two other color alternatives with each pattern – so three for the price of one. By staying with just four color choices, you aren’t given to overwhelming the quilt with too much or not enough color. Clearly written instructions, along with enough graphics to be sure you are on the right track, make these patterns ones that I can’t wait to try. All are pieced and each one has actual quilting suggestions. I like it when there are suggested quilting designs as I tend to get stuck on “quilt in the ditch” or overall swirls. Sizes range from 47 ½” x 47 ½” to 70 ½” x 88 ½” so there are several to choose from. The colors also cover a wide range as well. I can’t wait to start making one of these beautiful quilts.
