Newer Doesn't Mean Better !
I am a 7 handicap golfer that used to be off 3. I have tried several sets of irons to maintain a low handicap. I recently fancied a change from my Ping G5 irons and wanted something 'forgedish' that had some offset and a cavity back. There are a few choices (The new Nike VR's took my eye briefly for example). I searched Ebay for whats available as I was on a limited budget and with the help of review sites like this one I could make a decision based on feedback from other golfers. I liked the look of the DTR's, simple head design, thinner top line and heads I could polish instead of scrub, I won these irons 4-SW for a stunning £45.00 I guess nobody else bid on them as they werent current models. I re-painted the lettering in the heads, used a brillo pad on the V55 grips and 'hey-presto' they looked good in the bag. I love all the irons, the 4 iron looked so small compared to my G5, but the ball flight was just wahat I wanted. The shorter irons are just terrific, I love the Sand Iron in the set enough not to change to a Vokey or whatever. I added a Vokey Lob Wedge and am absolutely delighted with them. I am looking forward to 2012 and can't wait for a medal round.
Don't be put off by the age of a club, it's how it performs !
