The Merrel Chameleon Slam Is A Very Supportive Sho

The Merrel Chameleon Slam is a very supportive shoe but I would not recommend them for an avid walker. The soles are very slippy in the wet and I tend to only wear them in dry conditions around the garden and town. On rough terrain these could cause very big problems. Shame as they are stylish and supportive. Vibram soles need to improve a lot.

I Bought A Pair Of The Trainer Style Merrel Chamel

I bought a pair of the trainer style Merrel Chameleon Slams and I wouldn't buy another pair.

I only bought them last week and they've already been returned to the shop.

I slipped over twice wearing these boots. The past couple of days we've had a heavy dew so the pavements and road were slightly damp but I might as well have been wearing ice skates on a rink. When I returned them to the shop I was told verbam soles aren't meant to be worn on hard surfaces as they are slippery -not much good in a walking boot.

Far More Supportive Yet Flexible Than Any Other Tr

Far more supportive yet flexible than any other trainer or shoe ive owned. I havent used them for hiking or anything more intense than a little gardening, and walking around on holiday all day long. For which tasks they have excelled. Ive been wearing mine for 6 months or so, daily, with very minimal signs of wear. Ive also had to wear them at the gym occasionally and I forget they are not trainers. As work shoes, the khaki is discrete enough. In summary, the best all rounder shoe ive owned. If you want a hiking shoe though, prob' best to get a proper boot otherwise you'll prob trash them very quickly.

Not Exactly A Hiking Boot However This Seems The O

Not exactly a hiking boot however this seems the only topic area to place these shoes. They are excelent for approach walks for climbing and pottering round town but not much else! After 4months of good cared for use the sole began peeling where it joins the shoe. Fortunatley a bit of superglue solved this for a while but now even thats starting to fail! The fil and feel is fabulous and they look really cool, but not really up to the job that they were initialy designed for! Fortunatley now merrel has added a full rubber rand around the base of the shoe (2006/07 model) so maybe that will keep the sole intact yet they still use the same chameleon sole! I must add as well that i am seriously dissapointed with the vibram rubber used! The heel has worn away much too quickly as does its stickyness. I would recommend these to anyone who climbs and would do short approach walks in them and not much else!
