Gold's Gym, S. Arlington, TX

I started going to this gym because it was the closest one to my apartment. I figured that any gym is better than nothing. I was wrong. Every time I went almost half of the equipment was either out of order or in very poor condition. The locker rooms were not well maintained. I also did not like the fact that this facility does not have a pool. I think this franchise is mainly for bodybuilders, which I am not, nor do I have a desire to look like one. Like I said it was my most convenient option at the time so I thought i would give it a shot. Also, the customer service is nothing to write home about. When I first signed up I was very annoyed with how pushy the trainers were. I did not have any extra money to spend on personal training. This did not seem to matter to the insensitive trainers. They called and hounded me for the first few weeks until they finally got the message that I could not afford it at the time. Finally, when I recently moved and it became extremely inconvenient for me to get there I tried to cancel my membership. However, because I did not move more than 25 miles away they would not refund my money. Granted I should have had the trainer I spoke with when I signed up put down in writing the agreement of a prorated refund (I did not think it would be such an issue at the time), and I should have read the contract more closely, that was my bad, but 25 miles! Give me a break. The only good experience I had was during the training orientation. The trainer I was with was very informative and gave me a lot of helpful tips on how to reach my goals (it just would have helped if the equipment was functional enough to utilize those tips)Over all I was completely unsatisfied. This place is not worth the trouble. There are better places out there.
