Not only is GM Bob Breen's Acamemy the first JKD center in Europe it has always been the hub of numerous martial arts and has produced countless top instructors around Europe and beyond. If it where not for Bob Breen and his academy few would even know what Jeet Kune Do or Filipino Martial Arts was. A true trail blazer and not only the first but still one of the best. When it comes to JKD few can even stand in his shadow. You'd be a fool not to.

I went there in 2007. One day, I was joining the class and there were lots of people. One of the instructors shouted at me 'You! Get out!'. I could not understand why, and he explained that it was because I didn't bow. I apologized and bowed to him. I really meant no disrespect, I was new and I was probably thinking of some other business of mine or whatever. This bully didn't change his mind, even though I had bowed, he said that I could not take part in the class!. This despicable being humiliated me in front of all these other people for a stupid bowing gesture, like we were in Japan and this uncouth brawler was doing me a big favour with his class.

Even after 7 years, I never forgave him. One of the most ego-inflated, ignorant, below-average intellect I have ever had the misfortune to meet. At the time I was too meek, if that would happen today I would have said: 'Ok, tell you what....give me my money back and you'll never see me again'. I should have been standing there and let this big ox throw me out, then we would have had issues.

Man, seriously, if I'd meet him on the street and he were dying and bleeding, I'd just keep walking. At the time I thought that everybody else were better than me and that all these stupid instructors were Mr. Miyagi: they did everything for your benefit. How wrong I was. And it's not just this bully Barnett, but I found others too. These people aren't better than your average geezer who gets drunk and goes to watch a football match.

I went to the Bob Breen Academy to learn Jeet Kune Do and went there for a few months. My experiences of that place was appallinng. Some of the instructors have been rude to me in more than one occasion, especially (name removed).

The JKD that they teach resembles nothing like the one taught by Bruce Lee, and I don't feel it's good value for money. These guys fall into the classic 'New Age' trap: they believe that they are better than other people because they feel they know something that you don't. I feel that they did not help me to learn to defend myself and as for encouragement, they did the opposite.

It's not even good value for money, if you search you can find better instructors.

The only guy I liked better was Bob Breen, but he taught us sporadically. I did not like the other instructors. And liking your instructor is very important, because if he has no respect for you as his student, then it won't work for you.
