Athletic Evolution Is Not A Good Gym

Hi,

So, I just got back from Athletic Evolution today. I was there this morning for about an hour an a half, and I enjoyed using the weights and machines, but I have some problems with the place.

First off, when I got my membership, this amazing trainer, Curtis, was there. Now I find out that he travels from Calgary to be there. Holy smokes, that's kind of a long commute !!! He always seems to make time for anyone to show them how to use equipment, he's always friendly and he calls people by name. He remembered my name even though I only went there a few times this summer. I'm impressed. I hope wherever he's working now that they appreciate what a great guy he is.

Amy is great too. She's always in a good mood, friendly, and willing to talk and help people. She commutes too.

Anyway, I was there today, and neither of them (Amy or Curtis) was there. The other trainers had clients with them, so I can understand to a certain extent why they didn't have time to help me with the cable flies right away. But, I was there for an hour an a half, and when Brad is taking a break to go and chat with other people, or to do his own exercises, or Shelley is texting, I think it's inconsiderate to not give me 5 minutes of their time to show me how to use a machine. Neither of them, nor Nicola, calls me by name. Hmm, that's kind of inappropriate. Considering that I have insomnia and I still call them by name, which is tough for me, I'd appreciate to be called by name too.

Brad explained that he'd help me the next time he saw me. Sure, but you do know that I like to do flies on certain days and that I've been waiting for someone more helpful to show me how to do them on the cables, right? I haven't done squats in awhile either because you don't have a Smith machine, so I guess I need help with that too. Why couldn't Shelley help me today? Why couldn't Brad ask Shelley if she could help me? Was she too busy texting? Wow, I just paid over $500 for a membership and this is how I'm treated? Even in Calgary, the trainers made time for me to show me equipment and exercises. I was being considerate by being patient and only asking for help with one exercise at a time, not all the exercises I wanted help with, the least Brad could have done was to help me today.

If you're asking why I didn't ask Shelley for help myself, I'll tell you why. The last time I got 'help' from Shelley in the summer, she seemed really annoyed to help me with a shoulder press machine, and she was very unfriendly. I'm not being paid to be friendly...you both are...so I'd like to see a different attitude the next time I go there. I'm not a trainer, and I've forgotten lots of exercises that I used to know...if I remembered them, I wouldn't ask for help, but I certainly don't like either of your attitudes. I don't want to pretend that I know exercises that I don't, and I don't want to injure myself, so that's why I've asked for help.

I also don't go to the gym to be treated badly. If Shelley or Brad are feminists, they can leave that at the door...I didn't come to the gym to get a lesson in how to treat people or how to be treated. Believe me, I know how to treat people, and if you don't like the friendly me, I don't think you'll enjoy the unfriendly me. So lets keep things nice, ok?

If you don't know my name, you can ask me, but don't call me 'buddy', especially when I've used both of your names many times. If you think I'm ever gonna use them now, think again.

This is Canada, and I hope you both understand that being helpful is the least you can do. Friendliness is not the same as stupidity, so don't treat me that way. If you do, I might decide not to be friendly anymore.

Your gym does not 'take the cake' anymore. If Curtis and Amy were there, it might be 5 stars, but not with you two. If you don't like me or my review, I don't care, I don't go to the gym to make friends.
