DMR V12 Flat Pedals

The DMR V12 Pedals are nasty, spiteful things which should be avoided.

When I bought my Cannondale Bad Boy Ultra, it didn't come with pedals - I wanted a flat pedal I could use wearing trainers, and I was steered at these Magnesium Alloy pedals, super light, to go with my new bike. What a waste of money!

The grip on these pedals is provided by steel hex bolts that screw into the surface of the pedal all over both sides, and whilst they do provide good grip, they also damage the sole of my expensive trainers.

If you slip off the pedal for any reason, which has happened to me when the chain slipped and when making emergency stops, the pedal can rub against your shin. it's not something you would normally notice, but with these pedals you certainly will, as the hex bolts bite deep into your flesh and tear through it as your shin slides over their surface. Ouch! After a dose of this which required hospital treatment, I decide to reduce the number of hex bolts on one side, and remove them completely on the other to reduce the potential for injury, as Iiked the large peal area and the fact that they were so light. This wasn't all that easy, as a white corrosion had appeared around the edges of most of the bolts and they were extremely difficult to remove.

After a couple of weeks, there was another incident and my shin got another pasting - not as bad this time, but enough to make me remove these pedals for good.

I'm not the only person to complain of this with DMR pedals. They're certainly light, certainly grippy, but they're downright dangerous. Don't do it to yourself.
