When my husband had a triple bypass on his 50th birthday, I was beside myself. He'll be 69 in a couple of weeks, so the op was successful. However, when I went to see him in ICU he looked like a cyborg. He gave so many tubes coming out of his neck attaching him to various machines I felt nauseous and dizzy. He woke up dazed and delirious. Hardly conscious he indicated he wanted some water, so I gave him an ice cube wrapped in gauze to suck. You'd have thought he'd won the lottery, just to have that. I was hoping he would fall asleep so I could get out of there, which he did. I felt awful about the way I was feeling after what he had just gone through, but he could hardly open his eyes, far less read a paper. We spoke about it later and he could only just visualise seeing me there, didn't help my guilty conscience though. He said he wouldn't have been any the wiser! On the absolute plus side, the next day he was up and walking around the ward. NHS are brilliant at what they do. He's had five heart attacks and a triple bypass, and thankfully still with us, hopefully for a long, long time. Come on, Corrie, get your content in sync with reality. Anyone waiting to go through this procedure will be thinking its a breeze. It just isn't. Sack the person who wrote this farcical story. Unless, as I first thought, this is his under anaesthesia dream! Please tell me that's the case. It's still rubbish though. Expect better than this. DEFINITELY!!

Thank you! I thought exactly the same. The writers need to actually go see bypass patients in hospital and see what it’s really like. My partner had a quadruple bypass 3 years ago and it was months before he could even dress himself. Tim Metcalf has been able to lay on a sofa watching tv and stretching his arm over his head to pass a tv remote to his mother 1 week after his op. What rubbish! Bypass patients cannot lift their arms like that for months. The writer should know it’s a major op and that their chest has been cracked open and then wired back together . Come on Corrie. Get your facts straight before covering such a serious subject !
