Too Much Like A Fairground
I was expecting something that brought the spirit of Christmas, but instead this just felt like a lightly themed fairground, which was a bit disappointing.
It wasn't terrible, it was fine, but it just wasn't that Christmasy.
Yes, there was mulled wine to buy and there were Christmas related things there, but the majority of the entertainment was roller coasters and fairground rides, which aren't really what I associate Christmas with.
The other gripe I'd have with it was catering; it was just full of 'german sausage' stalls and the like, not exactly a gourmet-fest-of-seasonal-delights.
Would I go again? Probably not. Would I recommend it? If you like fairground rides and aren't that bothered about the 'Christmas' aspect then yeh, why not....
Wonderful And Wintery!
Absolutely delightful! The smell of good food and hot chocolate everywhere! The stalls are lovely and although I did not buy anything, they would be great to buy a few little gifts for Christmas. Some things were very overpriced but it was worth looking around first and then going back to the stalls you liked. The ice skating was really good and at night the ice rink looked beautiful! The ice skating cost about £14 but entrance into Winter Wonderland itself was free. We went on one ride, the wait was not long at all and we loved it, although it was absolutely freezing up there. The only down side was that the cash machines at the stations were closed so you were forced to withdraw cash in Winter Wonderland and they were charging £2.75!!! Should not have been surprised, this is usually how these sort of things work.
We were there from 1 until about 7 and although we were very cold we had a great time.
Q&A
I've heard it's really, really busy - is that the case? Ie can you get onto all the activities and can you actually get a drink from the bar and food from the restaurants or is it just too jammed full?
Ok that's really useful to know. Is it mainly adults that attend or is it a bit of a kids playground?
