“No good, not fit for purpose”

TomTom are utter rubbish. Freezing , jaming, poor quality, utter worthless junk. Also I had an email from them saying your sat nav is 3 years old and now out of date, here is 30% off a new one ( thats good for the environment !) Basically TomTom is rubbish and I would never buy another.

“Tomtom Customer Services: Rubbish. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.”

I have a Tomtom satnav with out of date maps so I purchased the map update facility. I could not get it to work. There seemed to be a compatibility issue between the Tomtom software and Windows 10. I took it up with their Customer Services. Someone from Tomtom phoned me and remotely got onto my laptop to try and locate the problem. They failed to find a problem with my laptop and eventually admitted that there is a problem with some Tomtom satnavs not being recognised by Windows 10. They then offered to "repair" the device at my cost. I refused. They then offered me a new Tomtom device at a 30% discount. I refused that too. Tomtom were far more interested in turning the problem into their own revenue opportunity. I asked for a refund of the map update facility as it had never worked. They refused as I had had the product for more than 14 days. True, but in all the time I had it, it would not work, so was useless. After many exchanges Tomtom offered me a replacement satnav. I said OK. They wanted me to return the old device and asked if I would like to receive a return label from them or print it off myself. Not having working printing facilities I asked for one to be sent. They then sent me a message asking me to print the label. I reiterated that I didn't have working printing facilities. The rep at Tomtom admitted that he had set up the wrong instructions and would redo it. I waited for the label. Nothing happened. I contacted Tomtom again and they said the label would be sent. Nothing happened. I contacted them again. This time the rep admitted that there was a "technical problem" and they couldn't send me a label. He then asked me to locate my local UPS service to go to them to get a label to return the device. So, Tomtom managed to turn their abysmal customer service into my problem. It was now my responsibility to find a source to get a label to send back their device using their courier service. Incidentally, using my car at my expense to track down this illusive label. I really cannot express my contempt for such an appallingly bad customer service culture. It claims to want to help you at every stage, then turns everything into a revenue opportunity or tries to offload their costs onto the customer. A customer service culture which claims to want to help the customer is exactly what is required. Unfortunately, Tomtom understand what is needed but completely fail to perform at an operational level. The reps don't appear to understand what they are doing. Then when they get it wrong, they try and turn it into the customer's problem. Tomtom offer a seriously rubbish service. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

“Virtually no support and useless live services”

I've just purchased the annual subscription for live services in Australia and New Zealand. In few words - they don't work. There are no updates of traffic situation. Wrong data on various traffic lights, radars and even roads; they can send you to a non-existing road, no data on ages long one way roads, they even deleted the correct data from the past and now the have either missing info or wrong data. Support stopped replying after complaint and to get them on the phone is pretty much a lottery - lots of music but no support person.... DO NOT BUY ANY TOMTOM PRODUCT OR SERVICES! It is waste of money and time.

“Complete ignorance!”

I purchased the Tom Tom Runner Cardio watch to the tune of £179 - its is faulty and does not upload data. I contacted support. They asked for more info - I provided it. They then ignored my following three emails chasing it up. If they don't know they answer they'll ignore you. Therefore I've concluded they just want your money and I'm going to return it and get the Garmin.

“Laptop software hopeless, traffic system very Poor”

Had lots of Tom Tom and they are all the same. The desktop software takes ages to install updates. The Tom Tom software says100 percent complete but the device sits there for hours saying updating when the update is very small, these are just gps fixes, not even map updates. When you are on the road and need live services, they constantly fail to connect. So you go for miles not being updated then find your in a queue and its too late. Which is the purpose of buying the traffic system. Support is completely useless, logged calls that if your lucky get responded to with hopeless resolutions Someone needs to guy this company and turn it around into something good

“Outstanding service”

Was having problems with old Tomtom sat nav (ruined by myself) and bought a new one. Completely in the dark as to how to transfer stuff over and was dreading ringing support as I'd read some pretty awful reviews. However, my experience was simply outstanding. I spoke to two people about two separate problems I was having and both advisors knew their stuff and resolved issues immediately. I ended up emailing one of them over night as i'd again done something stupid and I received a reply with instructions to follow the next morning.
