The Romantics is a film co produced by Katie Holmes who also stars as one of a close group of friends who have travelled out for their friends wedding. Unfortunately a long running rivallry between Holmes and Paquin (the bride) over the groom threatens to ruin the whole wedding. Josh Duhamel is the man causing all the problems as he struggles to choose between the two. This was an interesting film as the dymanics of the group are tested and the lines are blurred where friendship ends and love and sex meet. There are strong literary references and echoes of the lives of poets like Shelley and Byron. Unlike some American movies there are no judgements made about the way the characters act, that is all left for us to decide. It's shot beautifully and the actors all put in a great performance, worth a watch.
