. I went to saporito on saturday, however i was very dissapointed. Food was brilliant however io had to wait for my starters to arrive around 20 min, staff was so busy that didnt come to ask for drink when our glassess were empty. I felt sorry for these lovely people because they tried hardest but it was too many customers and only 3 servers! Definitietly there should be more staff to take care of costumers, because restaurant going to loose some of them. I am not coming back there again.

Was in the restaurant as the review on 22 July and can say that this table were being just simply rude. The owner tried his best to please this one lady and she was just being out of order. We go to this restaurant regular and find the food and service to be good. The fact its busy on a wednesday just sums it up.

Visited this restaurant last night. Extremely busy. Staff could not cope with the pressure. Waited over an hour and a half for our order. Food was unsatisfactory. Sent it back. Was no better second time around. Proprietor was unable to make the situation any better and was volatile and rude to his staff and to ourselves the paying customer. We were extremely upset. Would never go again.

I first went to Saparitos approx 3 years ago and sine me and the family go roughly twice a month. the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Given my background I grew up on Italian food and in my opinion this is by far the best Italian restuarant in Manchester - and I've been to most of them. most recently my partner and I went on a Tuesday night and it was relatively quite. Unfortunatley our 2yr old daughter wouldn't keep still, however, 1 of the waitress was kind enough to get her a colouring book and some pencils and look after her at another table for a while. Can't leave without mentioning the owner who is so cheerful and always stops to have a quick chat with us.

Arrived on spec on my birthday in November with my husband & our 4 children. Restaurant was busy but we were welcomed with open arms & greeted like long-lost relatives. The food was fantastic, including an on-the-house pasta dish for my teenage son who was feeling under the weather. I was also treated to complimentary cake with sparklers & a rendition of 'Happy Birthday', plus kisses on leaving. Can't praise Bruno & staff highly enough.

Went to Saporito with a group of work mates (7 of us in total) and found the waiting staff to be very sullen and unattentive. I arrived a few minutes later than the others and had to ask to order a drink, rather than the waitress asking me. We then had to ask again for another round of drinks and noboday came to check if anything was okay with our meals. After the meal only half the dirty plates were cleared away and then we waited about half an hour for a dessert menu and then another twenty minutes for them to take the order.
Finally we were made to feel guilty about using a number of different cards to pay the bill. Money is money at the end of the day!!
None of us will be returning and we certainly won't be recommending this establishment to anyone else.

The staff at Saporito are always warm and welcoming. The food is all freshly prepared and cooked which means you can wait on a busy night but it is worth the wait. We have celebrated Christmas, Mothers day, Anniversaries and Birthday's - including a Pizza Party for my young daughter and her school friends. The host is old fashioned and makes you feel like you are his best friend and always takes the time to make sure your visit is everything it should be whether you are here for the first time or the fortieth. I have introduced many of my friends to this restaurant and everyone I have ever taken has always gone back. Magnifico! Only drawback is that there is a step in and the restrooms are upstairs.

Always helpful, friendly and polite. They have always been great with our children and made them feel special especially on their birthdays or when celebrating special occasions like passing exams. Our parents have always been greeted and treated with the greatest respect.

We even dined here the evening my mother died. None of us had eaten properly for days and we wanted to celebrate her life. The staff catered for our needs and shared our grief but most of all they empathised with us and remembered my mother from previous visits when she had shared happy times there.

The rissoto is lovely, as is the lasagne and meat dishes. My children used to love the pizzas - their tastes have matured somewhat as they have grown older though.
With all this praise I hope the prices don't go up 'cos I want to celebrate my big birthday here soon with 20 plus family members and I'm paying so fingers crossed.

We ventured back here after the smoking ban (went in to eat and is was sooo smoky then we couldn't bear it!). We thought the waitress was rude, sullen and generally unhelpful. The only redeeming feature was that the food was good but I'd rather go somewhere else in future - don't like paying for food when I feel it's an effort to have it served!!

“The first time we went to Saporito there were children...”

★★★★★

written by PixieOfDoom on 06/02/2006

The first time we went to Saporito there were children running around the restaurant shouting and staring over our shoulders while we ate as if that was normal behavior in a restaurant. So we hadn't been back in over a year. On Saturday, however, we decided to give it another try because the menu is brilliant and we didn't want to drag ourselves all the way into the city centre just for a quick meal.

The place was absolutely buzzing but we were told they could accomodate us if we were out by 8:30pm. As it was about 7:05 we figured we'd have loads of time so we took the table. Despite the initial mention of time, the staff did not in any way make us feel rushed. We had enough time for a glass of wine before the starters arrived. My husband had a lovely bruschetta topped with tomatoes, basil and onion and I had whitebait which was perfectly cooked at not at all greasy. The maitre d' kept comping over to check the house wine was a nice as he'd promised, to see that our food was ok, and he was joking and friendly. He seemed to recognize half the diners as they clearly come to the place regularly.

We had plenty of time for the starters to settle before the mains arrived. I had pasta in a tomato, garlic & chili sauce which had just the right amount of heat so I could feel the chili but still taste everything. My husband had pasta with mushroom and shrimp in a creamy tomato sauce. He said it was lovely. The menu itself had a fantastic range of pasta and risotto dishes and if I hadn't eaten the fried whitebait I'd have gone for a gnocci dish with creamy tomato and mozzarella sauce. So few places seem to do gnocci and it's one of my favourite dishes. There was also a lovely range of meat dishes and pizzas which all looked very nice.

Afterwards, we had coffee and my husband had what was the largest slice of apple tart I'd ever seen in my life.

On the whole I think our first impressions of the place were on a bad night as the atmosphere was friendly, the kids dining with their families were in check and the wait staff, although surly, were very effiecient and the friendly maitre d' more than made up for the grumpiness of his staff.
