I've been a Brinkster customer since 2006. To be honest up until a few years ago I never had any big issues with them, once in a while the site would be down briefly but nothing out of the ordinary. The control panel was very limited but it was ok for my site. Their customer support also used to be very helpful. Lately however the service has become terrible. For the past months my site has been frequently down and lately it would go down several times a day and the only way to get it back up would be to contact their customer support. Most of the support people were helpful although they would simply reset the application pool and the site would go down again in a few hours.

Finally after contacting support several times I starting being insulted at. They would blame my coding for the site being down and when I mentioned that I was going to move my site elsewhere they threatened me to delete the site content!!

Ultimately I moved the site to godaddy and guess what ? ..it's no longer crashing!

My recommendation is to stay far away from Brinkster.

Our company uses Brinkster to host our dedicated webserver and database server. I like that they are a secured USA datacenter. Our company has been using Brinkster for about a year now and have experienced no system outages. They take care of a network firewall for us, manage the power, internet, and hardware and we take care of the system itself.

I have been able to eliminate a few of the servers we used to store in our office closet, eliminating energy costs, equipment costs, internet costs, and man power which we used to pay to keep up with these items. Over all our business has been able to lower our monthly expenses by moving these systems out of our office.

We no longer worry about what happens if our power goes offline or if there are internet problems at our office.

I started using Brinkster web hosting service 8 years ago. In the beginning everything was great. Now it is a total disaster zone. I need to run a mission-critical web service, so uptime is very important to me. The server is down constantly and technical support is uninformed and hopelessly indifferent. Do yourself a favor and avoid this terrible company.

Brinkster hosted sites frequently experience down time. Customer service is extremely lacking. Do not use brinkster because it will cause you to have lost time dealing with slow to broken email and web servers that are always running out of app pool memory.

If you contact customer support about these outages you will always receive some sort of stock answer that engineers are running some scripts on a server and that's what is causing the problems and should be resolved shortly. If this is the case, don't run script in the middle of the work week.

I have been with brinkster.com for some time now. I am a paid member and host static website. I was recently thinking of upgrading mysite to make it dynamic but the next package up was like 10$/month. Well then i found out that other web servers provide the same thing (PHP and MYSQL) under 5$/month + many free things like unlimted emails and bandwidth etc.

Now just to check on my account, i found that i am paying close to 6$/month. This is actually quite a bit for a webhost which provide only static webpages with no ads. Well I guess it is time to move.

About the control panel of Brinkster, well it is very basic. Really not that exciting and almost boring when i looked at other webservers control panel. Brinkster control panel does not allow polls. There are not such tutorial. I would not recommmend brinkster. Their uptime may be 100% unless they are upgrading but then you miss all the excitment that other webhost offer. Well i will not recommend it.

I originally joined Brinkster www.brinkster.com years ago because they offered free webspace with no adverts. But recently they have embedded adverts onto my webpage.

I do not know how helpful they are, but in the years I've been with them, the servers have not gone down, at least not without warning before hand.

I wouldn't recommend it to a friend because I'm sure that there are better hosts out there, but I'm still with them because they are reliable and I have not experienced any major problems.

Basically, Brinkster www.brinkster.com used to be a good service (when it was www.ewebcity.com), they got bought out, had a massive facelift and marketing program, things looked good for a while but now you will find that beneath the glitz and fancy graphics, the whole thing is based on bad technical management.

If you are a web beginner and want a personal type web solution (e.g. www.myNameIsChris.com), with mainly static HTML, simple stuff then you may find them to be OK.

If you want to run an enterprise strength solution for an online business then forget them.

Brinkster does have good 24/7 support and their free web hosting is the best around. Also their intro dedicated server is extremly inexpensive for a dedicated server package. Quick start packages at Brinkster are also great for a small business or business ran primarly to face to face customers. If you're not very good at web hosting I would recommend Brinkster, they have very cheap packages that include design and other helpful starting tools. But if your looking for Brinkster to allow to expand to greater things, such as a database or video, or any other demanding feature on your web site, I would look elsewhere. Although they do offer a lot of available technologies for your site. Also available on two types of platforms give you more options. I believe Brinkster is good for starting out but is costly and doesn't provide many any upgrades in more expensive packages. For example the midgrade dedicated server package barely gives you more bandwidth or disk space. So if you plan on having a simple site and staying simple they will be great, otherwise you may find yourself switching.

We have been successfully using Brinkster to provide hosting for our Church Web site for the past 4 years. Over the past 2 years they have added support for load balanced servers, which has greatly improved our site availability, and it is now up 100% of the time.

They have multiple ways to contact support, including live chat and phone. The live chat has been very helpful, with issues resolved immediately or within a few hours.

While there are multiple plans available, we are currently using their "Developer" package. This is relatively inexpensive for the first year, but the renewal price has no discounts and can get to be expensive.
