“Smash Hits! Is arguably the best and most successful...”

written by llee1987 on 24/04/2006

Smash Hits! Is arguably the best and most successful 'pop' magazine ever made. In 1978 SH! Magazine was created following the collapse of Melody Maker. SH! Was extremely successful between 1980 and 1990 when pop music was the most listened to music within the UK. Many people believe that SH! Magazine is the most influential glossy magazine in the last 25 years. The whole point of the magazine was for ordinary people to be able to relate with celebrities on a personal level. Every issue of the 'Mag' contained an article about an interview with a celebrity. Within this interview the celebrity would be asked personal questions often humorous ones such as 'what is the colour of your socks?' Questions such as these put the celebrities on a personal level no one had ever really experienced before and sparked a revolution. People began to dress like their favourite celebrities. This magazine changed people's lives not just from the way they dressed but to the way the spoke often incorporating slang in some of its articles. SH! Magazine was primarily aimed at audiences of 12-16 years of age it was the magazine that teenage girls cried out for, and also appealed to the gay community, with is colourful layout and glossy pictures of everyone's favourite pop stars looking great. SH! Was incredibly image based, 50% of the time taken by the editor was spent on deciding who should go on the front cover. SH! Was famed and successful because of its ability to understand what the teenage audience wanted at the time, fulfilling the voids, it seems, of wannabe teenagers.

Smash Hits is my favourite music magazine at the moment. It has some good music and movie reviews, and it is also a good up-to-date resource for the teens of the world. I especially liked the Fort Minor information because I am a fan of Linkin Park and Fort Minor. But there is always a problem, and it's happening to most of the teen girl magazines and also Smash Hits - TOO MUCH SIMPLE PLAN!!! Some people are getting REALLY sick of reading about Simple Plan! Despite that, this magazine rocks!!

I nave read Miss Pinks review and am glad that she agrees with my review that this is a great magazine, who and what are simple plan and fort minor and if they are a group i have never seen then get a mention. Teen magazines always concerntrate on pop like McFly and Charlotte Church plus middle of the road popular music but tend to also steer away from music and give mensions to teenage fashion.

Smash Hits - The magazine in itself is a quite fun magazine to read and there are quite a lot of good reviews on it, but I, in this one, will target most of its bad points although there are hardly any to review on.

Smash Hits is a really up to date magazine aged at 11 and over.
It tells you about all the latest Films and CDs, and does advertisements that are actually good.
Each page is packed full with loads of stuff on stars. Smash Hits does an A to Z on your favourite stars, and loads of cool new ringtones and great pictures to put as a screensaver, but make sure you fallow the instructions.
Smash Hits also shows you loads of funky new hairstyles plus what products you can use to make your hair go like that and how much they are. Smash Hits does a HOW EMBARRASSING moment and on stars.
