1997 Ford F-250 7.3 liter power stroke diesel 4x4 is a versatile vehicle, which has a higher payload and towing capacity. The Power Stroke has proven to be a very reliable vehicle. The engine is dependable and its low end torque is outstanding.
When considering purchasing the vehicle it is important to service the transmission regularly, especially if you are doing a lot of towing, check the manual for their recommendations. The second is remembering it is a diesel engine and the oil needs to be changed.
The driver's seat has many amenities such as lumbar, six way motorized positions; one can move the seat with ease to virtually any position. The front dash gives the driver a clear view of all gages; it has great lighting to see them in the dark. A larger gage lets one see each gage with simplicity. The stereo system in this truck is quite good with both front and back factory speakers which have a good sound quality.
This truck does have a larger turning radius that I had to get used to; one has to remember that it is not a car so it does not act like one.

After 250,000 miles, this truck is still going strong. Transmission had to be fixed at 240,000 miles, which is normal or even longer than expected. 7.3 powerstroke should outlast the body of this truck.

The Ford F250 Powerstroke is truly a heavy duty beast. Useful for towing trailers, boats, campers, or anything you want. These trucks truly perform better all around than Chev or Dodge. These trucks were built as if the fore-most concern was power, quality, and use-ability. Some people have apparently had a problem with the new 6.0L Powerstroke, but I have personally driven an F450 with a 6.0L Powerstroke for 13 hours, stopping only for diesel, pulling a 32ft trailer loaded with a forklift, and many oil well fittings, revving 3200 RPM the whole time, over icy Alberta road conditions having no problem whatsoever.
