Well there isn't really much to say about a plastic blob that fits on yer 'ed, however this is one of the better ones. I've tried using other lightweight helemets however this one is by far the most comfortable, although i would try it before buying! It is especially comfortable for people with boney heads (well..) as the adjustment comes low at the back of the head so it doesnt hurt the lump there (if you have one). Another thing about these is they look great and arn't too expensive, yet i am abit sceptical of the ammount of protection it will provide, th eplastic seems thin and although bendy does feel brittle, but its CE certified which is enough for me! As well this helmet like any other comes with head torch loops making it ideal for those good old alpine ascents! One thing that has really bugged me about this helmet however is the chinstrap it really is a pain in the ar*e! For the male clip the strap is double looped there for it keeps slipping as the buckle is only designed for one strap! i would reconment lots of black 'n' nasty to hold it in place or even stitching it! I am sure BD could have come up with a better system. In all however for general use its ideal, its relativley low price (£40) makes it ideal for intermediates etc who are just beginning to buy their own kit.

The Black Diamond Half Dome climbing helmet is a comfortable helmet with both polystyrene and internal straps. The chin strap is of course adjustable, but the great advantage is that you can undo it all on your own without the help of a friend to fiddle with the catch - nice.
