The idea of a game set in the wild west always interested me but having been a bit disappointed with red dead revolver I was pinning my hopes on Gun. Gun is a little like GTA but in the Wild West - you are free to roam around the massive game world accepting missions and challenges as you go - each mission that you complete moves the games story on a little bit more.
The games story is in my opinion the games strongest point - You are travelling with your father on a boat when a fight breaks out - your father ends up being killed but before he dies he tells you that you are not really his son, hands you a medallion and then pushes you overboard before the ship explodes - this is where the game proper starts and it is up to you to uncover what is really going on.
The combat in the game is good and it can be very gritty at times, riding your horse is also a good laugh. The only bad point I have really is that the game world is a bit sparse - there are wide stretches of desert with nothing much to interest you which really just adds time to your journeys as you ride around.
This is a good game and I have enjoyed playing it but some of the other reviews it has received have been a bit mixed. I would recommend a rental before you commit to spending your £40 proper.
