“Bad ”

written by Yurem454 on 20/08/2017

It leaves too much excess powder. The color is usually lighter than it looks. It doesn't last long and when you take pictures it looks like Baby powder on your face. After a while of trying the product and forcing myself to like it, I decided to return it. I spoke to customer service and they were awful and very unprofessional.

“Return follow-up”

Make sure you keep the tracking number from the USPS for any returns. My return was received on 5-12-16, but never processed for a refund. Called on 6-20-16 to report no credit to my credit card. It will be "processed" for a refund which will take another 30 days. Follow up, follow up. It's your money and their customer service is terrible!

“Fairly good.”

I purchased the bare minerals starter kit because I have pretty bad acne and I wanted a foundation that was going to cover this well but that didn't agitate the acne further or make my skin more oily. In the starter pack I received a 'get started' DVD which I didn't find particularly helpful because it was tricky to match up the product that the lady demonstrating was using with my product. (the kit contains 4 different foundation products). However, the foundations were creamy and stay well set throughout the day. They don't cover the acne amazingly but I was satisfied with how it covered mine and the products look really natural on my skin. My only criticism would be that when the products are first applied they make your skin feel tight and uncomfortable but this wares off after around 15 minutes or so. The best part of the starter pack was that you also receive a primer in which is a miracle worker! Overall, I would say that this product feels light and far from oily on your skin, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with very bad skin conditions because it didn't cover my acne that well.

“supposedly Good but very bad service. ”

written by on 12/07/2013

I have seen good results on the product on two of my sister's faces. Decided to try it while I was in London(live in Nigeria). Unfortunately I had a very bad service from one of the makeup artists in debenhams who sold a colour far darker than my fair complexion and told me that was all they got because she was in a hurry to leave. Ended up buying it and it made my face very dark unfortunately. Went to the internet and saw so many colours she would have tried on me which she didnt do. So dissappointing.

“Bare Minerals - not so good”

Bare Minerals made me break out --- I have good skin considering my age (the skin is oily in spots but otherwise good) --- Bare Minerals made my skin look patchy when it broke out; do not use this product.

“Ruined my skin!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by holstb03 on 06/05/2013

I ordered a free trial of bare minerals off of the radio. I thought I was treating myself to some high end make up that supposedly is very healthy for your skin. A few days after using the foundation and mineral veil, my skin was becoming increasingly dry and scaly. Then one morning I woke up and could barely open my left eye. Both eyelids were swollen and red. It's been a week and a half since that incident and I STILL have red circles around my eyes. My skin is so dry and itchy I can barely focus on anything else. I look like I drug addict and am embarrassed every time I go into public. I called to get a refund and the lady tried to upsell me! She then asked if I was allergic to this chemical which surprised me because I was told that their ingredients were all natural! Do not trust this company.

“Please read! (Esp if you have mixed race or oily skin!!)”

★★★★★

written by utopiairis on 16/01/2012

First I should just say that I am VERY critical of cosmetic products. I love make up and experimenting with new things and wear at least some make up every day but I get sick of cosmetic companies making over the top claims about products which don't live up to the hype at all. Also I am on a VERY tight budget so I watch a lot of beauty blogs and read lots of reviews before I get new things. In the last year or so I noticed little thread veins appearing on my face and more stubborn blemishes and so I switched from tinted moisturiser to a higher coverage liquid foundations. However since I am mixed race with very oily skin I was wasting lots of money on foundations which ended up sliding off, collecting in my eyelid crease and generally looking terrible after a few hours. I also had problems getting my exact skin match even with larger brands where I would expect a wider tone range. After reading lots of reviews and seeing beauty bloggers rave about Bare Essentuals I decided to try their Get Started Kit in "Tan". It cost me £40.80 including delivery which isn't cheap but considering how much product you get it's not overpriced. The kit contains; one full face brush, a slightly smaller face brush, a concealer brush, two foundations to match with tanned skin in "tan" and "medium tan", a product called "warmth" which acts like a bronzer, a product called "mineral veil" which acts like an illuminator/skin perfector and a concealer called "honey bisque". It also contains a DVD which shows you how to use all the products and advertises other products from the brand. All the products are very fine powders which I was hugely skeptical about since I've had very bad experiences with powders on my oily skin before! They normally end up caking or sitting on my skin and making me look like a clown :( I initially opened the box, watched the free DVD and was rolling my eyes at the tiny amounts of fine powder foundation the women were putting on their skin because I knew that it wasn't going to make any difference on all my blemishes and little veins. However obviously I had to give it a try so I started applying the make up along with the DVD. After the first tiny layer I could see no difference and was really disappointed but it is suggested you build this up till you get the coverage you want. I didn't see how it could make any difference to my skin but after using the little tap, swirl, buff technique a couple of times my skin was looking REALLY different. I then copied the DVD using the concealer on my little veins and the warmth powder and mineral veil powder and I was so shocked at the result. My skin looked better than when I used high-to-medium liquid foundation with cream concealer and bronzer. My pores looked tiny (they are NOT tiny), I had this amazing dewy look (I have never in my life had the "dewy look" for longer than an hour!), my blemishes were covered and even with my 5x magnified mirror I couldn't see any product on my skin. I was so impressed but still being skeptical decided that after a few hours my oily skin was going to win, or that when I went outside I'd find the colour match wasn't as good. But outside in bright winter daylight you still couldn't see any product, and I even checked in my magnified mirror (I really did). I have never had a foundation match my mixed skin that well and I've tried a LOT. About 10 hours later, my skin still looked perfect, no oily sheen, no product seeping into my eyelid creases, nothing. I still can't get over the fact that a powder concealer covered my little veins. I really can't say enough good things about this product. The only TINY negative is that the powder is so fine that when you tap it into the lid so you can start to apply, it can be a little messy until you get the technique right. You need to be very gentle and controlled or it'll be all over the place. You also need to watch the DVD and copy the technique exactly as it's shown. This wasn't a negative for me as after a few tries I could apply everything in half the time it used to take me to do my old routine. I have heard from other reviewers that this kit can last for 6 months to a year (even with daily use) before you need to buy any more product which, for me would make it extremely good value. I couldn't recommend this kit enough, if you have oily skin, or a skin tone that isn't always catered for it is so worth trying this!!

“Creamy??? Not my definition ... nor the dictionary's!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by FairMaiden on 30/11/2011

I have dry skin and am borderline anaemic, so moisture and good coverage are essential. My skin, although fair, is very good for a 44 year old - no blemishes and smooth, but the inner corners of my eyes are very discoloured (grey/purple) and I have dark areas beneath both eyes (nearest the nose). I applied the Prime Time over my Eight Hour Creme. My skin was still very dewey from the creme (dewey being the look I love), but once I started to buff the recommended amount of mineral foundation on my skin, I could see that coverage was very poor and my skin immediately felt robbed of its dewey finish. The area under my eyes which is very delicate and softly lined, was now the 'focus' of my face, as the powder emphasised the dryness. I then applied the Bisque concealer to the inner corners of my eyes. This did not give the same 'creamy' finish as my regular creme concealer and the colour was mismatched to my fair skin by several shades. The shade emphasises the area of imperfection. To market this product as 'creamy' baffles me. It is a mineral powder and behaves as such. Cream/liquid is precisely that and powder likewise. Both cannot be the same and are not - as this product clearly demonstrates. The reason it stayed on for under an hour was because I washed it off ... and reached for my liquid foundation instead!

“Wow - it has me converted”

★★★★★

written by Misty42 on 08/11/2011

I have been a girl pretty scared by make-up, indeed it was the thing that stressed me most about the pending wedding day! However, after trying a few brands (both starting with C) I had a go at Bare Minerals. What a difference, it covered but didn't clog! So much so, my beautician has converted from Cl....s to this and that's after many many years of using the product. I have pretty good skin so don't need much help but she and my mum have split veins and this covered no problem. It feels natural, looks natural and everyone commented on my natural glow now. So, the only thing is it's a little messy but if you contain the power when applying, it's fine. One of my best buys....

“Bare Minerals Foundations- GREAT FOR...”

★★★★★

written by on 02/08/2011

First of all, I would like to begin by saying I have tried all different types of foundation over the years in the need of trying to camoflage acne and blemishes, as well as to gain a perfect natural look, and this product is truly FANTASTIC. As a health conscious 19 year old, I rejoiced in a product that is 'so good for your skin you can sleep in it' as well as being made up of skin friendly minerals. In the 8 months I have been using these products, I have noticed a dramatic difference in my skin, which is now much clearer. I would strongly reccommend to anyone before buying this product to have a lesson with a bare minerals consultant, which can be found at the makeup counter of bare minerals stockists such as debenhams as the application differs from other foundations. I would also advise that the 'lets get started kit' is purchased for mineral makeup virgins as it contains all the brushes, concealer, warmth (bronzer) and 2 foundations you will need, (as well as a dvd to give tips and advice) and it works out cheaper than purchasing all these items seperately. Coverage of this makeup is as much or as little as you wish, but at no time does it feel like you are caked in makeup, or wearing too much. It also makes it perfect for holidays and is available in an array of different shades to suit even the fairest of the fair. The brushes are durable and compact, and a little goes a long long way! You can buy each pot of foundation seperatly which is approx 8g, and this lasts me (someone who wears full coverage everyday) about 10 weeks. I have combination skin, and find this works just as well in the dry areas as it does the oily areas. This product hides pigmentation well with the help of the bare minerals concealer, which is a MUST for anyone wishing to hide blemishes. The makeup is durable, lasts all day, and really does improve the quality of your skin. It is also perfect for really hot days and holidays, when wearing a thick liquid foundation may feel uncomfortable and cause outbreaks. I have tried all different makeups and skin care regimes, including Cliniques No More Blemishes Foundation range and found that this is FAR cheaper, and coverage is much better. IMPROVES ACNE, doesn't clog pores (you only have to compare the endless list of your normal foundations ingredients compared with a Bare minerals foundation to see why) HIDES PIGMENTATION/SCARRING/BLEMISHES 10/10, would recommend for all makeup wearers, wonderful product!

“great purchase!”

written by anhle on 21/06/2011

i discovered bare minerals whilst in new york, after seeing it on tv alot back in the uk i'd thought i'll give it a try and brought the starter kit for fair skin. my skin is fair/yellow olive skin and i was amazed how it blended well with my natural colour. up until today it has nearly been 10 months since i brought it and im just about finished with the powder. i found it was VERY light weight on my skin and when i do wear liquid foundation(MAC) it really feels as if i got a mask on and i can't wait to get it off at the end of the day. the i.d foundation gives a good coverage if u have good/decent skin, however if you've alot of blemishes this is not for you because it won't hide it like magic unfortunatly. i got the golden/medium tone and in the light my skin glows like a dewy look which i like. the kit came with a dark blush colour its very pigmented so just a tiny amount will make a difference. my overall view on bare minerals is that its great for me, i wear it everyday unless i've got a big night out thats where mac steps in but other than that im very happy with what it gives me as in coverage and feel. you can put the foundation on with your eyes closed if u want and still u will look good. that said im planning my next trip to the shop to buy it =)

Found out about Bare Minerals Make-up by mistake. I was walking past the counter in Debenhams, when a girl asked if I would let her try this on my skin. I was in a hurry, but said it would be fine. I am so glad I stopped. My skin looked better straight away, and the foundation stayed on all day. I love this make-up. I have used this now for about seven or eight months, and I can honestly say it's the best I have ever used. My foundation was finished at one point, and I had to use my original liquid foundation for a short time. It didn't look or feel as good as my Bare Minerals and did not last as long on my skin. It makes you skin look flawless, and people actally commented on how good my skin looked. Will be going during the weekend to stock up on my supply. I have been using make-up for over thirty years, and have tried numerous brands, but this is a clear favourate, and I won't be changing again.

written by sushi0chester on 25/05/2011

This is the first time I have tried this make-up. I got the trial starter kit with foundation, bisque, mineral veil and brushes. I sometimes suffer from breakouts and bad skin so I thought I'd try this and it is awful. It hardly covers the skin and when I applied it more over the blemishes it just looked patchy, not a good look. I don't understand what everybody is raving about. If you have perfect skin to begin with then this is for you, but if you suffer from breakouts don't bother. It's overpriced and does not do the job. Instead I'm going back to using liquid foundation, concealor and powder as it works so much better even if it does need touching up throughout the day. I was hoping to find a 'miracle' make-up that was light enough to use on holiday but I'm just left disappointed, unless I'm doing something wrong?

i can definitely assure you that you are doing it wrong,I work for this company and have never had a complaint about patchyness. Your best bet is to either watch the DVD that comes in the GSK or pop down to your nearest counter where someone will be more than happy to show you how to apply it
Hope this helps

Bare minerals is absolutley amazing! Ive always been a liquid foundation girl and until now had never ever used powder in my life. But when i saw my friend apply it I was amazed by it but quite unsure if i would ever use it myself. I booked in for a free makeover still really unsure and i walked out of there feeling confident and my skin never looked better. I have really really oily skin and quite bad spots on my forehead but ever since using bare minerals my skin isnt half as oily and the spots on my forhead have cleared up really well. Its quite hard to get used to applying it at first, not being used to powder whatsoever it can get messy but im into my 3rd week of using it and it takes me 5mins now its that easy! I used to re-apply my makeup about 6 times a day because i couldnt bare to look shiny but now i never re-apply because it lasts all day! I would recommend this product to anyone and now ill never go back to using anything else!!

written by on 28/10/2010

I first became aware of bare minerals when I noticed how good a friends skin looked one day and she told me she'd been using a sample. I brought the starter kit and it is AMAZING. I have some pretty annoying scarring from spots and this covers it perfectly. It also makes me look so much healthier, and feels so much nicer then the bobbi brown tinted moistiriser i was using before. In the kit there was a really great product called warmth and the dvd tells you how to apply this, it gives a really healthy glow - something i'm always grateful of. Bare minerals is superb - i couldnt leave the house without this makeup on, infact when i get up i'm dying to put it on to see the transfomation every morning. I feel its actually improving the condition of my skin. It looks like i'm barely wearing any makeup at all whilst actually making my skin look much better. However if theres one fault its concealing whiteheads - i have to use my bobbi brown concealer for that. Overall this is a fantastic product and if your unsure on anything i recommend going to a concession somewhere - they're really helpful and give tonnes of samples!

After reading a lot of articles and reviews on this make-up, I decided to try it out.I bought a starter kit that came with a powder foundation, mineral veil, colour wash and a lip gloss. After trying out the whole set on,the make up really works but you have to use the whole kit otherwise it does not work as well. Also you barey have to use any of the product for good coverage,it was very easy to apply and felt really soft on my skin. The foundation didn't dry out my skin like most powder foundations. So overall I think this product is good value for money and I would certainly think about buying more products from this range.

I never write reviews but felt I had to the reviews on this web page are unbelievable bare escentuals is by far the best makeup I have ever used there is no mineral makeup that comes close to this brand! There are tricks to applying this makeup but when you learn how nothing comes close. I have very very dry skin I look after my skin but no matter how dry you are makeup makes it worse bare minerals completley improved the condition and redness in my skin, every other makeup tries to cover up then removes by 12 pm be does not need applied. All these reviews that claim be is awful, well they are wrong people don't take the time to learn about this product, you need the correct colour and products for you including the correct brushes for your individual needs. And if you are one of the few that is allergic MATTE by bare minerals is their new product that's perfect for those who don't like the glow or are allergic to bismuth. Honestly please do not listen to some reviews on this site this product is amazing!

“WARNING: Really Long Review ”

★★★☆☆

written by on 13/08/2010

WARNING: Really Long Review
Skin: Dry, Moderate Acne, line under eyes, areas of darkness
Age: 16
How long have I used this product? : A month.
Kit Ordered: Deep

My interest in Mineral makeup was there for several reasons the main two reasons were a) Mineral Makeup is better for your skin and helps improve your skin unlike regular makeup and b) It looks more Natural. Yes I saw the infomercials and it sparked a major interest. This interest grew deeper as friend#1 talked about Sheer Cover and friend#2 said Bare Minerals was the better of the two products.
Desperate to find a mineral makeup product for Prom, Google, Makeup Valley and YouTube became my best friends. However I became confused.....which product is better Sheer cover or Bare minerals? Then a whole list of other mineral makeup lines came up in reviews. These were:
Pur Minerals
Everyday Minerals
Erthn' Glow Minerals
Avon Smooth minerals
Jane Iredale
Urban Decay
and various others.
However I knew I had to save to make this makeup purchase. I could not make such a demand on my parents who knew not the important needs of a teenage girl. By searching for reviews like crazy I had to eliminate. Some were too expensive, some from looking at photographs and reviews provided little or no coverage, Some lines although claiming to cater to black women did not really provide the finish I was looking for. (ashy-ness). After weeks of elimination I was left with four lines, Avon smooth minerals, Bare Minerals, Everyday Minerals and Sheer Cover. I chose Bare Minerals for several reasons. Avon smooth minerals although much cheaper had three foundations in Deep I did not know which to choose, I preferred the Bare minerals starter kit to the smooth minerals starter kit because of its range. For Sheer Cover I found that like friend#2 a lot of reviews said Bare minerals was the better of the two mineral makeup lines and that Sheer cover has the reputation of charging the credit card even after cancellation of orders. Everyday Minerals seemed like a great cheap and reputable company especially for light skin tones and medium skin tones for Asians however though they provided free samples they have very little options for deep skin tones. I chose Bare Minerals although I was troubled by some reviews which made it seem like an acidic powder which smelled like glue. From reading reviews I expected the products to be small, the flawless face brush to shed and probably some irritation from the bismuth oxychloride. My family of course was mad that I was spending so much money on makeup; I had to order my package through a shipping company because I'm from Jamaica which meant it would be more expensive. I must have been crazy to bank so much on a product but I wanted it to work so bad. In waiting for my B.M. package I purposefully ignored the bad reviews and looked at reviews which said it was a great product to remind myself why I made such a risky decision.
After two weeks of waiting I finally got the package. I didn't mind the packaging. I ordered my B.M. package on their online site. Not from Sephora. But before you say I'm crazy... this is why I did it, I really wanted to try the Skin Re-ver Upper(Salicylic acid is great for acne!!) the Sephora Starter Kit though cheaper would come to 82 dollars with the Skin Re-ver Upper which is basically the same price as the one on the Bare Minerals site. However on the B.M site you could get the Flawless def. Mascara, a compact, a precision concealer brush and a free eyelid primer sample. Who wouldn't want to try other B.M products free? And I did like the fact that this kit came with a DVD and other instructional guides.(Rarely found in other mineral makeup brand kits) So you reader, must imagine my dismay the first time I applied this product and I looked like a duppy (ghost).Even though I expected the flawless face brush to shed, the continuous shedding on first use irritated me( the brushes are real good quality otherwise) and the makeup didn't really conceal the dark areas, breakouts and lines. However I was patient and learned to use the product. The key to this product is manipulation. I found that from helpful reviews that if the brush is sprayed with rose water or just water it would provide greater coverage. I can say that I like the B.M products; I even like the smell. It still doesn't cover everything but it is a great product once you have the patience to learn how to really use it and mix foundations instead of returning it (which I couldn't do anyway). That is how you'll get compliments on your skin! It is a wonderful product worth trying especially with the Bare vitamins (the Primer and re-ver upper) and a good moisturiser which help to prevent breaking out with the foundation. A little goes a long way (even though I don't use as little as they did in the DVD) this product will last even the most frequent wearers of makeup a reasonable amount of time. The bismuth oxychloride wasn't really wasn't a problem for me. Most reviews said the irritation occurred most times in the sun when they were sweating. As I said before, I live in Jamaica which basically means sun year round and I haven't had a problem with itching or burning it even works well with my dry skin and evens out my skin tone. However It all depends on you. If your skin is very sensitive then you may have a problem. Still try it! I have tried sleeping in this makeup =) although I don't recommend it. I also don't recommend exercising in any makeup at all! those avid readers on skin care would know why. Google it!=) I wrote this review because I know there are many others like me who have to think ten times before making an online purchase. Read all the reviews and you will learn discern genuine experiences and those reviews geared towards hurting the company. Understand that Reviews are like surveys with different types of people with different hygienic habits. For example a person who complains that the product was wonderful until they started breaking out, it could mean that their skin can no longer take the product or they just don't wash their brushes or they still use the top of the cap to mix the powder instead of a clean bowl. What really sold me on B.M was a YouTube video (called Bare Transformation) which showed a girl with acne and how well the B.M covered those flaws. Reviews are helpful. I have made a recent online purchase again! And it is a wonderful concealer form Avon Smooth minerals which works well with B.M and makes my skin looks flawless. The best you can do for your skin is just to take wonderful care of it.
I have this same review on makeupvally =)
