Clean and cleaned daily. Friendly staff. Good food. Efficiency all round. Value for money. The Royal York, Ryde is an old building with style of early 20th century. We have visited regularly and find it a very relaxing hotel and near to the sea. Needs a bit of a face lift in and out but does detract. We enjoy this hotel and it IS value for money… Read Full Review

A group of us stayed at The Royal York hotel. Majority of rooms were very tatty and dirty. Dining room service was very poor, 45 minutes for coffee , meals ordered twice because the waiter had wandered off and forgotten, continually running out of basics like ice for drinks… Read Full Review

My wife and I spent a short break at the Royal York in January 2007, and we didn't find it so bad. The building does need a little TLC. It was rather cold, and some of the metal-framed windows didn't shut perfectly. The food however, was excellent - good choice and better quality than we had dared to expect for the price.
