I am now saddened to say I visited this zoo. The enclosures were shocking and the animals were bored.
The facilities were poor as well.
Upon entering you must pay the entrance fee which is about £3.50 for an adult and £2 for a child which is good value for money.
Hints of what to come are in the macaw cage-good size but no enrichment.
You then enter the greenhouse setting. It is a wonderful humid environment filled with lush vegitation and lovely pools where terrapins rest.
Unfortunately the birds are not free flying and are kept in cages. These are too small for the birds and they have minimal room to fly in. It is very depressing. Although the Mynah bird is funny he and the Senegal Parrot pluck their feathers out in stress. The toucan was very miserbale.
Outside is small. First up are the chipmunks and budgies who are in accceptable areas.
Next up are three shocking enclosures.
Fisrt is the Meerkats - cute. There outdoor area is like the desert. Sounds good, you say?
Wrong.
The Meerkats frantically try to dig out as it very small while their indoor area is nothing but a wire cage. Next is the monkey-bored and lonely in a small cage with a concrete floor and there is no enrichemnt provided. Inisde he banges on the door.
The Racoons are poor too. Although planted up nicely it is way too small for them being the width of their body and only about triple their length long.
The lemurs have a big enclosure but once again no enrichment is provided. Even the poor goats only have a tiny concrete paddock.
Venturing back inside we went in the reptile area-and found Molly the free range turtle and a good Caiman enclosure.
However two were kept in a muddy bath tub in concrete. The snakes could not even uncoil their tanks were so small.
There isn't even any toilets!

My View
This is a poor zoo which thinks nothing of its animals putting them in tiny and unnatural enclosures.
It was very saddening.
