I thought it was a bit sticky to apply but within an hour my face felt lovely and soft. That feeling was to be short lived.. 24 hours later my face has small red lumps all over it and is burning. I have now had this rash for 4 days and its showing no sign of going down. Reading other reviews im now going to buy anti histamine cream to try and bring the rash down. I am stunned as to how many reviews have said people have broken out into rashes. I don't have sensitive skin at all, so im shocked I have had t his reaction. I will never go near this cream again.

I purchased this cream when it was on offer at lloyds pharmacy it was a great pa and on the side of box the blurb made it sound great. It described the cream as legendary great for dry chapped and sunburnt skin etc etc. Unfortunately for me it wasn't the case. Initially on using the cream my skin felt great I was really happy. Unfortunately approximately 48 hours later I had a very itchy rash covering my neck and my skin had a crawling sensation also one eye was really sore. So gutted thought I'd found miracle for my roseacea dry flaky winter skin. :(

I use the skin protectant when I travel, I've used it on 4 hour coach trips. I'm going to go to paris in a few weeks and I will be bringing it along with me in my makeup back, before I leave my house, I will apply it all over my face and massage it in, it seems a little greasy at first but eventually it blends in and your skin will absorb the nutrients and will be smooth and moisturised. I also have the Estée Lauder 8 hour moisturiser, which is just a lighter application and is as good. I recommend.

I purchased the Elizabeth Arden night renewal cream which was reduced to about $38 from $190. I should have known better. All night long I have scratched my face and neck and realise I must research this reaction. I am so glad I did. I also bought at the time the intervene moisture cream with 15 plus at again reduced prices and will not even attempt to use it. Really disappointing. I should have stuck with my Loreal products.

I was suffering from severe ecezema around my eyes and on my face and I tried this cream as a last resort because other emollients hasn't done anything. I was incredibly hesitant because it isn't fragrance free and my skin is incredibly sensitive but after just a few hours I saw the ecezema was calming down. It has now been two days and it has almost completely cleared! I am so so grateful!! Highly recommend. As for people who had allergic reactions - always do a spot test!

I had read good things about this cream. I tried it and it gave me a red rash on my face and neck, my face became swollen and I had blisters all over my face. I had to go to the hospital and was prescribed some cortisone cream. This was quite distressing as I did not know what this was at the time. I have also read reviews where others have suffered the same reaction. Surely the manufacturers should put something in with the cream to this effect, this should be a requirement. I am sure this works for a lot of people and this reaction is rare but it is not pleasant when it does occur. I could not test this on my wrist etc. as this was bought online. I think it is irresponsible not to put something in with this saying it is rare but this can occur.

I have exactly the same reaction to this product, and thought I was the only one! I have really dry chapped lips and this, as everyone probably knows, came highly recommended. I applied Eight Hour Cream on my lips and within a few hours my lips became horribly swollen and burning. It took a long time to recover and I realizenow I should have taken anti-hystamines. Apparently it's very rare but all the same it did happen and now I see I'm not the only one! No-one believes me when I mention it.Very frustrating as everybody raves over this product and it really was an unpleasant and distressing experience. I'll never ever touch it again!

This is an awesome cream. I use it in night and day both. Its not greasy and is absorbed by the skin very well. Over months I have been looking more fresh and younger(as noticed and complemented by all) and feel better from inside too. I keep a stock of it and I order it from genericpillsshop.com. Its just awesome

A month ago my dermatologist prescribed Roaccutine for my acne problem skin. Amongst the side effects are dry lips, dry skin and my skin has changed from oily to dry and sensitive. I was so miserable and stopped socialising because my skin and lips were forever dry. I purchased the Elizabeth Arden 8 hours skin protectant and I AM LOVING IT. Today is the third day I am using it and it is FANTASTIC. I use it on my face and lips and the results are amazing! I am definately going to continue using it.

I used it too whilst on Roaccutaine and I swear it was my saving grace as at times my lips would peal off in a solid piece leaving a raw and very painful exposed lip which I protected using this cream. Since coming off the Roaccutaine 4 months ago, I have a different side effect, my nails are now peal off in big strips leaving my cuticles torn and very dry, and again the only thing that helps is the 8 hour cream. I now use it for everything, my night cream, nail cream and lip balm... I love it so much!

i have read the other reviews in horror, I have used this creamfor a few years and will keep buying as it works for me. It does have a strong smell and I'd not use it during the day but applied at night to my eczema and dry patches round my eyes and on hands and body I wake a new women and I have tried all other creams prescribed by the doctor and this was the only thing that keeps my skin decent in the winter. It is pretty greasey and not really suitable under makeup but honestly I would never be able to wear makeup at all during the day if I did 't use it at night. If you have sensitive skin I'd do a patch test on the inside of your elbow overnight first as it obviously has adverse reactions in some. I have hard it used to cure Psoriasis and various forms of dermatitis so it's worth a go if you are suffering

I used 8 Hour Cream Skin Protectant on my face as I had been in the sun and my face felt dry and itchy . I read that it could be applied as often as required . After two applications my face began to itch so I tried to wash it off . After two hours my face went bright red and started to swell . Large blisters appeared under and over my eyes and all over my chin. After 6 hours large "bubbles " of fluid built up in the corners of my eyes . I could barely open my eyes at all . I contacted my doctor who advised a mild cortisone salve and antihisamine tablets. I duly did as I was advised and was horrified to see that over night things got alot worse . I had to put on the biggest pair of sun glasses I could find and go to the E.R . I have been diagnosed with Angio-oedema resulting from an extreme allergic reaction to the face cream. I have been treated with a huge Cortisone injection in my rump . These injections hurt but are effective, as the swelling started to recede after 2 hours. It will take several days for it to go down and I have to stay out of the sun . I live in Norway where sun is a rare commodity so its a real pain . My advice to any one that is tempted to buy this is STAY AWAY FROM IT Anything that can cause such a violent reaction CANT be good for your skin !!!!! Elisabeth Arden should compensate people for the pain this product causes and not least withdraw it .

I am sorry to hear you have had such a bad reaction to the cream, but it does not cause a reaction in everyone. I have used this product for years and it is wonderful for my skin. I used it at night and sometimes during the Summer under my eyes if I think they need it. I always use it on my lips to soften them and avoid chapping. Everyone's skin is different. Also with hormonal changes as we grow older, our skin changes, so we can find that one product suits us when we are one age, and then later not at all. This is a fact of life, and it does not mean that everyone should avoid the cream. But, it would be good if manufacturers put on their products a warning saying 'may cause allergic reactions in some users.' I believe this would be responsble and it would overly impact sales in those who want to try it. Finally, did you try the product on your wrist first? I never just go into a store and buy a new product without testing it first on the inside of my wrist. I recommend you in future to go into the store WITHOUT buying, and get a sample first or test it there and then and give it at least 24 hours to see what, if anything happens, to your skin. It might have been easier if the reaction had been on your wrist, than on your face, although of course an absence of a reaction would have been the preferred result. I hope my recommendation helps. this product was recommended to me by a doctor for blemishes on my face. she told me to try this and would clear them up and to go see her a few weeks later. i will be going back very unhappy as this has only made things worse. obvioulsy dosnt know what shes talking about. the product is petroleum jelly with a harsh smell, a very expensive simple barrier cream.

I am addicted to this cream. A small tube lasts me months, even with the amount I use it. It really does work on everything - blemishes, dry skin patches, nappy rash, you name it. Fantastic for adding a glow with make up application. I recommend it highly.
I am a beautician and have used many products/ranges in my time and seen many different skin conditions. I feel I'd like to point out that people who have had severe skin reactions, as unfortunate as it is, probably would have had a reaction whether it be this product or another. ALWAYS patch test when using a new cream, particularly if you've reacted to other products in the past and/or have highly reactive skin... simple.

I could not say it better than you already have. I am a South African and with our weather conditions summer and winter badly affects our skin....I am using this product every night after a hot bath mainly on my face and had no problems at all...it leaves my skin soft silky and I've noticed that it sooths out my wrinkles or fine lines what you may call it....exellent product and would recommend it to anyone. Well if you had a bad reaction or experience then you need to see a physician. What also would suggest is you make sure you use a 3-in-1 cleanser to get rid of the daily oils and stuff you know and then apply this 8hour cream....you won't be dissapointed.
regards
from happy me:) Thank you Elizabeth Arden for the amazing product......

I am so disappointed with this cream, I have sensitive skin by my own admission but I could not have predicted the allergic reaction I got from using it. The product suggests good for extremely dry skin/eczema. I am now being treated for severe chemical burn, I have huge blisters all over my hands and I am having to take antibiotics to clear the infection, great when your 27 weeks pregnant, thanks Elizabeth Arden!!

Fantastic what a discovery, slightly greasy so not the usual moisture cream, great for dry areas and to get the dewy look if having a makeup free day. I used this on dry eyelids and it cured it. Difficult to use under powder face products due to the greasyness.

When I was a child it was known in our family as "THE MAGIC CREAM". A small amount applied before bed to chapped lips, wake up next morning and massive improvement.
I still think it's magic!

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Skin Protectant
' intensive body moisturizing treatment. Smooth over body daily '
What does it do?
The claims of this body cream are to leave the skin soft and luxurious for 8 hours long. They say that it absorbs quickly and deeply giving a very intense moisture saturation. Especially good for and reverses the appearance of dry flaky skin.
This cream has won THE BEAUTY INSIDERS AWARDS
verdict
The 1.7 oz tube that I have is not really that big, and for the amount I used on my dry legs and arms its not going to last that long.
On opening the tube I found that the cream is actually very thick, nice though and soothing when rubbing it into my skin. It had a pleasant scent to it but I couldn ' t quite put my finger on what it was, maybe citrus lemon.
The cream sunk into my skin immediately, and because I have very dry legs (you can see scales!) the affect was straight away. You could see no patches of dryness on my arms or any scales on my legs. My skin felt smooth and soothed, 6 hours on and my skin is still completely hydrated.
To use quite sparingly though, you do need a generous amount but not loads of it, other wise the tube will only last a couple of days!
Would recommend this product, it is a high end beauty product, and definitely feel more glamorous when applying!

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Skin Protectant is the only product that I have ever had an allergic reaction to on my lips. They are a right mess now - swollen with a rash of tiny pimples and feeling like they are severly burnt. this happened when i used it a year ago but I couldnt at the time work out what caused this reaction. Using it a year later (but a new tube) it happened almost overnight. :( not happy!

I have just tied this cream, the write up and recommendations were really good. The following morning my face and neck are covered in tiny blisters, its burning and very itchy. I couldn't go to work today because it looked so bad. My skin has always been clear but I now look like I have acne. Been to the doctors, he prescribed very strong antihistamine (can't buy over counter), antibiotic cream and large dose of pills to try and calm it down. It's now been 5 days and still smothered! I will never use this again.
