Although on first riding it seemed to pick up all the grooves in the road the tyres have become more supple and now rides well. Excellent starter and good fuel consumption 100m.p.g. For the purchase price of £500 I feel it has been a good buy.

“The Baimo RSR125 is my first bike and I purchased it...”

The Baimo RSR125 is my first bike and I purchased it after looking at a lot of 125s from the Honda CG125 to the Kymco CK125. All the other bikes I looked at were very small and didn't have the equipment I wanted. For example, the Honda costs £2,000 and you don't even get a rev counter!

So I took a risk and ordered the bike from Baimo direct and it was delivered to my house for less than £1,000. I did have to register it myself and buy a number plate which cost an extra £67 but that meant I was the first owner unlike many of the other cheap bikes offered on Ebay or at shops like J&S Accessories which are pre-registered.

For your money, you get a speedo in MPH and a rev counter set in two stylish chrome pods. The big headlamp is chrome and there is chrome on the top of the engine and a chrome pillion grab handle and luggage rack. There is even a nice little chrome handle on one side to help put the bike on the centre stand.

The bike also has a nifty digital display to indicate which of the five gears you are in (handy when you are learning) as well as lights on the display for both left and right indicators. All four indicators are on flexible pods and there are reflectors on the front forks.

In addition, the wheels are both bigger and wider than other 125s and those 3-spoke alloys look really good. The rear suspension has five settings and the seat is large enough for two big men to sit on. It is also higher than the seat on most other 125s. Because I am 6ft tall, I checked all the dimensions against the Honda CG125 before buying and the Baimo is longer, wider and taller than the Honda.

Baimo is a German company but I belive that these bikes a built by Qing Qi in China under licence from Suzuki as it is almost identical to the Suzuki EN125 (which unfortunately is not imported into Britain by Suzuki UK) This is, in my opinion, a better bike than the Suzuki Van Van or the expensive 125 Choppers that are offered by official Suzuki dealers.

The engine is a Suzuki design with a Japanese designed carburretor. It has the CDi system and you also get a ventilated front disc brake (but a rear drum). You get electric and kick starts and it always starts first time.

It only has about 11bhp so it is learner legal but I am now finding it adequate for my commute with a pillion. It will get up to 70mph on the dual carriageway or 65mph when you are carrying a pillion. I took my test on it and passed first time (so it brought me luck) and even examiner was impressed by it - making a change from all the knackered riding school bikes, no doubt.

The only bad points are that the clutch cable needed replacing soon after I got it (fixed in ten minutes after Baimo sent me a new one in the post) and the side stand is sprung and not angled enough so it doesn't feel too stable - so I would recommend using the centre stand. Also the speedo is in MPH but the odometer is in km/h, which is a bit silly.

The paintwork is beautiful and everyone loves the blue which does look really special. Everyone that sees it is impressed and it gets alot of attention. When I returned to it after work one day there was a group of people admiring it. Heck, even riders of sportsbikes nod at me when I am riding on it!
