Imagine If You Could Take All The Best Things Abou

Imagine if you could take all the best things about 1980's indie music, give it a modern twist, strange and entertaining songtitles, and make it resemble a more melodic and less irritating version of the better bits of the Talking Heads? If you could do that, then you would probably be a member of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. What can I say to convince everyone reading this to buy, beg, borrow or steal this album? It's simply ace.

There's jangly guitars and riffs to stick in your head. There's wistful lyrics about lost youth and teenage love. There's bitter takes on modern society and culture. There's David Byrne-esque vocals. There's happy, dance around your bedroom with a hairbrush moments, and tender, sweet ballad-y moments too.

Simply put, this is possibly the best album I've heard this year (well, maybe second best) and one of the most unique too.

As far as I know you can only buy it from an American shop you can get to from the band's official site at http://clapyourhandssayyeah.com, but as the NME, amongst others, have recently been offering free MP3's from this band, fingers crossed they'll get a UK label and get a release and a tour this way soon!
