Jenoptik Jd 1300d - I Had This Camera For Ages And

Jenoptik JD 1300d - I had this camera for ages and did me well as a web cam and general camera. After having the computer hard drive upgraded, I found I no longer had the disc for it. I have searched the web for days now and could not find a driver to download anywhere not even on the Jenoptic site itself. All this aside, it's a great little camera and handy size too. Well done Jenoptic..... just get the drivers available pleaseeeeeeee.

It's A Good Camera - As Are Other Jenoptik Product

It's a good camera - as are other Jenoptik products - but the downside to the camera can spoil the general enjoyment of the product.

First there is the question of the batteries, already mentioned several times on the review page. Top of the range power only and make sure you have plenty in reserve as even the best batteries will not last long. General tip - don't review your photographs very often, it's the power required to light up the LCD display that sucks most of the power.

The second major problem is of course the software. Not unusual for Jenoptik products.

In XP the camera is found only as a removable disc. Even then there is sodme sort of power question as I personally find that if I have more than five pictures to down load onto my computer the camera jams.

When I asked Jenoptik about this they suggested that the data must be corrupted. It wasn't!!! Indeed, Jenoptik's view of the world seems to be, here is our product range, it might not work very well on the standard Windows programmes, but hey that's not our fault, it's the fault of Microsoft.

Are they going to do anything about it. Nop. Their Customer Services in the UK made that perfectly clear to me.

So to down load - I have found that the only way to get at my pictures is to down load five or six at a time, and one at a time - don't go for the select all option - the camera will jam. Then switch the camera off save the files and then start all over again with the next five pictures.

The Jenoptik Customer Care and Support really needs sorting - big time. The fact is they don't seem to care at all. I am surprised that one of the TV Watchdog Programmes have not yet caught up with them.

So great product - rubbish software development, and customer support.

Buy at your own risk.

I Had The Jenoptik Camera A Week And All Was Well.

I had the Jenoptik camera a week and all was well. I found it really easy to use, and was impressed by the picture quality. I was however disappointed when on the second week i went to use it and upon turning it on it kept turning itself off. directly after the battery icon and the stars came up on the small screen indicating the camera was on, it just as quickly went blank and switched off. This left me unable to take any pictures. I returned it to the retailer who gave me an identical camera in replacement, a month later the exact same fault happened again. Either i am the unluckiest guy ever to buy this particular camera or the there is a serious fault in the camera`s make-up. Either way i will be staying clear of this model in future.

Have had much the same problems with downloading pictures using ME on a Dell GX1. However, having installed the only driver ever issued for this camera and got nowhere, tried connecting with the camera switched on using the same cable I'm using for my USB BAR flash memory device and rebooted leaving the camera switched on and hey Presto! the removable disk icon in 'my computer' window appeared and I was able then to download as normal. Conclusions: It would seem the 1015 win98 USB BAR driver is compatable! Worth investigating don't you think?

Shadow if you read above you will see i had and unfortunately (STILL have) the problem of the camera turning itself off the instant its turned on despite trying every battery out there as you did.

However on the problem of getting your pictures downloaded to the pc using winXP (my system also) Heres how i overcame the hardware not recognised problem,

First turn the dial on the top of the camera to the pc icon - next insert the usb cable to the camera (but not the computer at this point) - turn the camera on (hopefully it stays on knowing how unpredictable it is lol) - Now with the camera switched on and your top dial turned to pc - plug the usb cable to the pc.............hopefully it will bring up the window that lets you chose to download your pictures......carry on from there ....your pictures will end up in your ` My Pictures folder` from there you can move them to a photo suite program and do your stuff editing. Hope you have some success with this let me know how it turns out mate.

I echo your statement regarding the jenoptic website and their lack of drivers for this camera i am totally disillusioned and feel i could have got a much simpler camera to operate for less money...Which was my whole point in buying this camera....idiot proof use?....yeah right.

Shadow.

I also bought the jenoptik camera and had the same problem. Almost an hour after installing new batteries the camera would start to turn itself off instantly after being switched on. I have tried everything from top the range batteries to rechargable ones with no joy. Not only this fault but I had difficulty downloading the pictures using Windows Me however I managed to overcome this, but now I have windows Xp and it does not recognise the camera connected on a USB cable as being a removable disk so how do I get the pictures? I am dismayed that Jenoptik do not see fit to have a website that has downloadable drivers to update some of their older cameras !

I have had this camera for a long time and therefore it was not cheap and I am totally disappointed by it. If anyone has an answer to any of my questions please let me know.

Ian thank you for that information if it is correct then i need to say my review is totally rendered useless, I still have the second camera i will get some expensive batteries and try again. I am amazed the retailer didnt suggest this at my first visit. Thanks again. Kenny.

Ian Cunningham.

I had the same problem, but then discovered that if you use a top of the range battery this fault will not happen. It only happens when using cheap batteries.

This Camera Is Also Known As The Polaroid 1320. Wi

This camera is also known as the Polaroid 1320. Windows ME users are probably out of the game with this camera due to driver incompatability. Images download in Win98 and WinXP

with few problems. The one nuisance is that downloads are not always smooth if you use a flash memory card. The download will stop midway through the process and the camera needs to be turned off, disconnected from the USB port, turned back on and reconnected. There were no such problems when the camera was used without the flash memory card.

In ideal lighting, this camera excels. (There is too much grain in the image in poor indoor lighting, but a good photo editor can overcome this. Try using a sepia filter)

I Have Been Using A Cannon E500 For Several Years

I have been using a Cannon E500 for several years and decided it was time to enter the digital hype as i still wanted to retain the 35mm option. I looked round for medium option of digital camera. The Jenoptik 1300d seemed ideal as it included driver connection and software for PC. Getting the driver to work was a different matter. It works on Win98 ok but only as a removable disc.

For backup I tried on Win NT! with no success and the Jenoptik help line has, so far, not even bothered to reply. Shame. On first use the colours are more constant than with the 35mm format where different brands produce different results. The ratings will be low reflecting Jenoptik after support

As A Complete Novice With Computers In General, An

As a complete novice with computers in general, and this being my first venture into digital photography i found the Jenoptic jd1300d very user friendly as far as the actual camera controls are concerned, also the manual that comes with the jd1300d makes learning how to operate the cameras features very easy even for the novice like myself.

The only downside i have discovered is my problem trying to get a suitable driver that works with windows xp and this was my fault for not checking that the camera wasn't xp compatable yet. If anyone out there could direct me to a suitable driver i would much appreciate it.

Getting This Jenoptik Jd1300d Digital Camera To Do

Getting this Jenoptik jd1300d digital camera to download to WinME is a nightmare, it's not a problem with drivers but with procedure. The only way I've managed to download is to follow these steps: 1-Plug USB cable into PC. 2-Switch camera to PC mode. 3-Turn camera on. 4-Plug USB cable into camera. Windows will then recognise it as a removable USB disk and it will show up in my computer as a new drive NOT a camera.

Although I Feel The Jd1300d Digital Camera Deliver

Although I feel the JD1300d digital camera delivers great value for money from Jenoptik I've lowered the overall score to reflect the driver issues that I've experienced with Windows XP. I contacted Jenoptik over a week ago but as of yet they haven't replied to my email.

Got My Digital Camera The Other Day, As A Camera I

Got my digital camera the other day, as a camera its great, well worth the price. Its just that it wont download with Win ME, yet. Its probably just a problem caused by Microsoft (as are the majority of the world's problems!)

Thanks to this review, I didn't buy it.

I intended using it with a Win ME laptop.

I also won't be buying the Pentax if they're really the same camera.

Thanks for saving me the money.

crispy.

Totally agree, the camera itself is great. Have tried several drivers, including updates from the jenoptik web site and still no joy.
