“Nothing swift about Swiftcover”

Written on: 12/02/2015 by Byroni41 (1 review written)

I'm the one in the family who deals with car repairs etc, this includes insurance claims so i'm not new to the insurance repair process and have dealt with many different insurers.....usually they are reasonably efficient, no-one expects perfection. Had reason to make a claim for my own car insured with Swiftcover....OMG ! Try calling the claims line before you buy the insurance! Better make a sandwich and switch it to speaker phone so you can get on with your life while you wait and wait and… Read Full Review

“phone helpline unreliable. ”

Trying to sort out a claim by phone - very frustrating to be told at 7:30pm that 'the office is now closed - opening hours are 8am to 8pm'. What kind of service is that?… Read Full Review

“Changing policy holder”

Written on: 17/04/2013

Recently got a great deal with swift on my car insurance only to find I had to sent of my no claims discount which was not a problem until I realised that the no claims was not in my name but my wife's so I decided to change this online all was excepted until I was told I had to cancel my policy and apply for a new, once I applied for a new one to find that this had increased to a further £30. I contacted swift who advised me they could not do anything about it I was so angry I canceled the… Read Full Review

“5 years insurance, 1 claim, and 0 love,”

Written on: 16/04/2013 by Rossmack7 (1 review written)

Unfortunately I'm in the middle of a claim. I have been with swiftcover for 5 years, and of course mainly due to them being cheap to insure with. A drunk driver has totalled my car, and I have been without a car for 5 days already. Service is very slow and frustrating, with plenty of information on what they can't do for you and little positive updates. I'm fully comp, but feel like its means little to them. Like its been mentioned already...you get what you pay for...which clearly isn't much!… Read Full Review

“You Get What You Pay For at The End Of The Day”

Written on: 16/03/2013 by rev.review (1 review written)

Always came out cheapest on comparison sites and enjoyed having everything available online. However, when my wife was involved in an accident that wasn't her fault, their methods and approach have been obstructive, inconvenient and stressful. Their approved garages are expected to operate at razor thin margins, meaning the likelihood of our car being repaired to anything like the standard demanded by the manufacturer is somewhere between unlikely and not-a-chance. Having not made a claim… Read Full Review

“£52.50 penalty for early cancellation”

Written on: 28/11/2012 by forgoodnesssake (1 review written)

I had a policy for 18mths with Swift Cover, never claimed anything from them so low maintenance customer. I've just taken a company car and therefore telephoned to cancel my policy and was told that they charge £52.50 to cancel! I asked them to justify the cost and they are unable to but state that the charge is stated in their small print. They won't let you cancel without this payment and are quick to recommend their finance heavies getting involved. My advice to them was that they may as… Read Full Review

“Expensive cancellation fees - they don't want to let...”

Written on: 15/03/2012 by fruitbats (2 reviews written)

Just tried to cancel Swiftcover policy with 2+ months to run. I'm buying a new car (slightly larger engine) and have a new quote for the same price as Swiftcover last year. All sounding good. But they want £52 to cancel or £48 to change the vehicle. This may include (I remember from before) about £25 just to update my guessed at, future mileage from 14k to 15k! Joke that is. Swiftcover may not be alone in this scam so my advice is to read the small print (sorry.) And since car insurance… Read Full Review

“WARNING ”

Written on: 24/05/2011

WARNING
I received a letter to say my insurance would be automatically renewed and my debit card automatically debited.... standard stuff these days, however Swiftcover had doubled the price. I called them to ask why and was told prices had increased.. so I said NO THANKS as I could do better (£235 to £550) and was informed the conversation was being recorded as proof that I had cancelled....
Within 20 seconds of hanging up I received a text on my mobile stating that my insurance was due for… Read Full Review

“I live in a small housing estate in the Scottish...”

Written on: 17/05/2011

I live in a small housing estate in the Scottish Borders were crime is non-existent. I move out of my parents house to a flat 5 minute walk away. My car was parked in the drive and now it is parked at the block of flats. I thought it was harsh to charge for changing your address (£30). I was charge a £150. Yes people £150, because it was in a high risk area.

Day light robbery. These guys don't know we're in a recession

Written on: 31/01/2011 by philz55 (2 reviews written)

Slow frustrating claims process. They do not inspire me with any confidence. Been waiting 3 weeks now. The total loss engineer was making me an offer last Friday and here I am Monday night still waiting, unanswered questions, unanswered emails. To be fair It has all been the total loss engineer the claims handler has been good but she cannot do anything more. Why can't they deliver what they promise. I have done most of the contact to get information from them and have had more info and… Read Full Review

“My girlfriend was involved in a 5 car pile up, she was...”

Written on: 03/12/2008 by davebax (1 review written)

My girlfriend was involved in a 5 car pile up, she was the first car hit so not at fault. Rang Swiftcover and logged a claim, but the haven't got back to me. When I rang them all they wanted me to do was pay the excess on premium before they would book it in for repair. They told me that it had to be one of their recommended repairers who turned out to be what I consider a less than reputible second hand car dealer. They told me if I wanted a repairer of my choice they would only contribute… Read Full Review

I loved swifcover - have insured with them since 2005 and was nowt but chuffed. Easy peasey to set up, can change policy nice as pie... its all good. My 2006 quote was cheaper than 2005, and so on, until today when i received my 2008 quote.....yes my renewal quote has been bumped up by £130 quid - cheeky !!!!
Another year older, another year on the NCD - and another £130 quid for my safe driving.
I could be waving goodbye to swiftcover..... shame… Read Full Review

“I switched my car insurance to Swiftcover earlier this...”

Written on: 07/09/2006 by Tim W (1 review written)

I switched my car insurance to Swiftcover earlier this year, and I was very pleased with it.

A few days ago I was forced to switch cars at short notice.

The evening before the switch I logged on to my account, and after digging around a bit, I found how to change vehicles. I made the change on-line and supplied payment details for the slightly increased premium.

Shortly afterwards I received an auto-email saying my change had been accepted, and I'd receive a confirmation email when it had… Read Full Review

“I got car insurance from Swiftcover last year. My wife...”

Written on: 31/07/2006 by NazAh (1 review written)

I got car insurance from Swiftcover last year. My wife had an accident and this company provided us with a 3 door car, while knowing that we have a 2 year old child. They will not provide a 5 door 1 litre car because it was costing them £4 or £5 extra per day. Very bad customer services! Staff are non-responsive, and they will not reply to emails for days… Read Full Review

The company are up front about the car provided so no grounds to whinge. You have a choice to upgrade and pay more when the car is needed. Most insurers offer the same 1.1 litre courtesy car option.
