I brought a barracuda thriller from ebay 5 years ago but i have changed most parts of the bike all that is standard are the handle bars seat post and crank (which is worn out) and bottom braket. I put the following parts on it suntour xcm forks, front and rear shimano disk brakes, new back wheel with disk hub, rapid fire shifters, air sprung rear shock, oh it still has orininal tyres with slime tape in them. I emmigrated to Texas U.S.A and shipped the bike over when i moved i use the bike for off road and seriois trail riding, the West Texas sand has played havok with the gears even with dry moly chain lube and the bike get used alot it needs new crank bottom bracket and rear cassett after 4 years of hard riding the frame is excellent and has put up with alot of rough riding i can not fault the frame its everything i wanted. When i brough the bike i wanted a sturdy frame as i have broken 3 mountain bike frames and built the bike i wanted out of the standard barracuda thriller.

I use my Barracuda Thriller mountain bike everyday to run my dogs, we tackle everything and going from hard road down onto the beach, onto soft and hard sand etc...perfect...not a problem! Absolutly love this bike and would tackle anything with it. Think some people have a problem when they are too heavy for this model and stretch or snap the suspension. I love it! Comes home COVERED in mud and sand and just hose it down. Seriously the perfect hardcore bike for me! Recomend to anyone who wants a decent bike that wont let you down. Had loads of bikes and this one is by far my favorite.

ive had my barracuda show down full suspension for over five years and never let me down..i go out on it most days and wkends..may there are some bad ones and may be i got a good one..still got original brakes disks and chain..the crank is now in need of a coat of looking at but a good bike..i made the rear suspension hard for road riding and never let me down..the frunt suspension still does its job..so all in all a good bike for the money..

It's not like i've done anything out of the ordinary on this bike, far from it. Mountain bikes are, in my opinion, meant to be getting thrashed about and should be built for this, what really annoys me is that this bike never left the road and yet the rear suspension snapped in two and is now completely unridable with no way of welding back together and no way of me getting a replacement part unless I buy the whole bike and that won't be happening. Shocking build quality.Trying to find the company that actually makes these bikes isn't easy as the shop I bought the bike off says the warranty has expired and so is not interested. Does any one know how to get hold of barracuda or where these bikes are made?

I'd never go near a barracuda again!

Keep away from any Barracuda, horrific quality, terrible bikes they really are. Don't just buy a bike because it has full suspension or V brakes kids because you would be so much better off saving the pennies towards something in the region of a specialized Hardrock!!

Yes i'd definatly get a barracuda show down if I were you, I think they are well worth the money. I bought one the other week and they are so bouncy. And easy to ride, also very fun you could have a good day out on it.

The barracuda show down full suspension bikes are so poor. I have had mine just over a year, the front wheel folded up and spokes went through my tyre, the rear wheel buckeled and had to be replaced, paint is very easily chiped. The crank baring is wobbly and has already been replaced. Once the pedal end of the crank arm lost all its fread and the pedal droped off. So in conclusion I have been totaly disapointed with it and think its only worthy for srcap and not sure of that buy the quality of the metal in that tread!!!!

I got my Barracuda show down about 4-5 years ago. I have riden it hard for a good long while but realistically they are rubbish bikes!!!! Also I have seen the more recent models and half of them are plastic, But having said that it is still around although im not riding it because it would fall apart in my hands!!

I found this review not helpful because... just a subjective opinion - no clear reasons why the bike is considered good. No objective comparisons with other quality bikes. No account of own experiences on/with the bike.

I paid £350 for a brand new (still in box) bike in april 2003. the bike was a last years model which i didn't mind. after 3 months rear suspension unit failed, replaced under shop's warranty. 4 months after purchase wheel bearings in rear wheel worn out. bottom bracket bearings worn out. 7 months after purchase suspension forks failed whilst riding along road! manufactuer said out of warranty on forks! in general moore large & co offered no support for their product.
