I Bought My Panasonic Pt-50lcx64 About A Year Ago.
I bought my Panasonic PT-50LCX64 about a year ago. The features that reeled me in were the DVI, multiple RGB inputs, as well as the PC inputs. As a TV the quality is excellent, and the blacks are a little grayish but still black enough for my taste.
The unit has no HDTV tuner and I prefer my unit's modular so that is my preference. On the upside the unit has performed exceptionally well as a TV and a 50 Inch PC Monitor. I run the resolution at 1280x720 because the native resolution is 720P. I tried the 1920X1080 but the picture was best using the native resolution. I had to tweak my PC to present slightly lower then the 1280X720 because of the noticeable clipping in PC mode. I had to back the Resolution down by about 28 Pixels.
As far as adjusting the unit because of the minor clipping, I did not find any documented method. The set-up are basic and adequate abut no fine tuning of the picture except for the common Hues temperature and brightness.
Startup of the TV lags about a minute or more. This means no instant on, but that is minor compared to excellent quality and long term performance.
So a 50 inch HDTV monitor that doubles as a PC monitor, my Vote is a thumbs up. The internal picture conversion circuits make conventional TV look excellent and HDTV quality is more than acceptable to my tastes.
I gave the sound quality 7 stars but I do not use the built in sound on the unit. But occasionally I have not started my AV system and it is acceptable.
