“They wake up your ears :)”

These headphones are really very good headphones. I had an entry level set of HD 205's for a couple of years which I was really impressed with for the money, unfortunately the lead broke (my fault) and was looking to replace them. Decided to part with a little bit more cash for these bad boys, and seriously for £75 they have the sound of a £300 pair of headphones..... Very impressed, and really good that the lead on these is detachable and replaceable, 2 year warranty, far more comfortable than the HD205's as they sit round your ears instead of on them. Should have got these in the first place really... Perfect for mixing music on Logic, iPad, or DJing sounds really 3D and just the right amount of Bass, Mids and Tops all round. I am a Sennheiser convert x

“If you wanna b a Dj music hardcore listener ”

Trust me, it's brilliant item . I lost my first one at the airport and tried my best to find the second one which have to be exactly this one. It was so lucky for me, I found another spare and last one from Singapore and I would never ever loose it again. The sound is perfect even for my ipod, cellphone and of course my lap too. The bass is very clean and make me wanna to dance and jump like a crazy dude every time I use it. Also, people around you 100% can not find any problem with the annoying sound from the headphone like the other model. For my vote, this one is best one in term of it sound, design and value. It's rock

These headphones were given to me as present, I didn't expect much of them, I only wanted something rugged after my last pair broke. They have been a very good surprise, I've yet to find a song that doesn't sound amazing, from techno to drum & bass to rock to classical, you will think the music being played in front of you.
Overall, a very good set of headphones, should be priced much higher.

The best headphones I have ever heard. At first I did not want to spend so much money on a headphone. Lucky the shop where I bought it from had a test model. And after the first song I was hooked.

There is no better headphone out there for at least twice the price. I was really shocked to know that sound could sound so good. It has excellent lows. Crisp highs and perfect mids. The only problem I had with it is that setting a EQ is only setting the perfect balance of sound that the HD 215 delivers of. There is no way that any sound could be better than on the HD 215.

When listening to the HD 215 it actually feels like the instruments is being played live in front of you. I have listened every single music genre there is on it and not one is below perfect. It is a must have for anyone. I will never again be able to listen to any other headphone again. I just absolutely love it!

It is so comfortable. The around ear keeps it from falling off. I even go jogging with it. It just stays on.The whole Headphone just sits like a dream.

The best thing I have ever bought with my money. If you want to spoil yourself then this is the right thing to buy. If you own a Ipod and you don't already have the HD 215 then stop what you are doing now and go buy one!!

I bought these about 2 years ago when they first came out. I had a big gig and my current pair broke in transit so I had to rush out to Dixons to buy these bad boys as a temporary measure. I've never looked back since! They are without doubt the BEST headphones Ive ever used. I got a set of Sonys XB300s and they didnt come close to these. (I am tempted next to try the Sony XB700 soon though)

Search online for best price.. just be aware of Cheap eBay copies circulating.

“Sennheiser HD 215 - I was reading technical specs -...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 21/01/2009

Sennheiser HD 215 - I was reading technical specs - frequency response starts from 12 Hz, in reality there's *less* bass than my old HD 457 with their 25 Hz starting range... I am so disappointed because HD 215 are kind of expensive and they are no way even close with basses as I expected they would be.

I don't even know how they write 12 Hz because all I hear is a bunch of 10 000+ Hz treble and no single bass. I keep using my scotch taped HD 457 right now...

Creative Audigy 2 sound card in my PC and HD 215 sound much quieter than HD 457... I have to max out every channel in Audio Console to get something similar to 457 being on 50%.

I don't know, may be that's because HD 215 are closed and HD 457 are open, so I am not used to them. May be.

I *think* HD 215 need an amplifier to sound properly...

Bottom line: Think 7 times before you buy HD 215. I wouldn't buy them if I knew how they will sound. In the store where I bought them, they had some garbage opera playing in headphones as a demo, so I couldn't test them with opera properly.

I am VERY disappointed right now.

★★★★★

written by Happy Camper on 13/12/2007

These headphones are described as "DJ headphones" and that describes their sounds perfectly. There is a lot of "smile" (the bass and treble are boosted) which sounds great when listening to electronic but it's not so great for other more subtle genres of music. Luckily this is easy to remedy with a bit of EQ. I personally like to boost the very deep bass (20-70hz) and the mid range between 500 and 4000 hz to give a more neutral but still impressive sounding track,I can recommend these to anyone who likes an overly smiley sound, and to those who have access to a decent EQ of some sort. Definitely worth the money - you'd have to spend quite a lot more to get a better set of headphones.

★★★★★

written by cleroux on 06/09/2006

Basically, if you wanted a better pair of headphones, you'd be paying a lot more, maybe twice or three times as much as you would pay for the Sennheiser HD215 headphones.

Good quality, great sound, durable, good design but could be somewhat more comfortable. I find the left side pulls down a bit because of the cord, but that's about it. I bought these for a price/performance pair of cans to use with my digital drum kit, critical listening and leisure listening. They handle everything as I need them to. They have good attenuation, blocking out the stick sound on my drum pads. The highs are high and crisp, and the lows are getting better and better as they get a little more broken in. Mids have nice detail and balance.

“You know when Jeremy Clarkson goes on about the...”

★★★★★

written by Lew DJ on 28/11/2005

You know when Jeremy Clarkson goes on about the Porsche Boxter? Basically, why buys one when you can have a 911?

Well the Sennheiser HD 215 headphones are in the same category. It's a case of German engineers 'detuning' something mind-numbingly good to fit into the 'mid-range' of the market.

I've been using them for a few weeks, and I have to say that they are excellent. I've had some Sennheiser headphones before just as back-ups for practice; they were the cheapie HD202's which have survived two years loyal service. That is why I've been keen to get a more well engineered Sennheiser product.

The construction gives me confidence that these headphones will last many years, and the quality is fantastic. But, I have to say that only the right cup swivels, not both. Although there seems to be no difference which way round you wear them. The single replaceable coiled lead is great, and exactly what I've always wanted.

The sound is where I have to mark these bins down, but hardly. At first when they were new, I have to say I thought they were a bit 'bass-less', but as the padding has softened and they have worn-in, the bass has increased in the mix, so don't judge them too quickly. They don't have the bass that can make the bins dance on your ears like 1210's or V700's, but these are mid-range cups.

Basically these are great value headphones for the money, but you can get better by buying top of the range. You don't need top of the range, as these are perfectly good in a club environment.

I've read reviews that the sound is poor in the mid and bass area, but they need to be run-in for 30 hours before they can be judged.
