“Dreadful service”

written by on 15/12/2019

My wife and I are in downstairs flat and noticed water flowing down bathroom wall from behind the tiles. Spoke to upstairs neighbour who quickly checked and said not them. Tried to find problem and then noticed kitchen cupboards all mouldy and water coming from back and as this is wall that divides kitchen and bathroom knew there was a link. Rang insurer who sent out a representative who advised definitely upstairs problem. Spoke again to neighbour who contacted their insurer who sent out plumber who confirmed they had overflow problem. They got New piping and everything sorted. We had damaged walls both bathroom and kitchen bathroom carpet ruined and damaged kitchen including cupboards. Day after plumber for neighbour Barclays home insurance sent representative from Sedgwick who came to assess situation. First words he said before coming in were 'we aren't paying '. My wife said don't you want to look at the damage and he advised he could but no payment would be made they will make sure other insurers are instructed not to pay. Was not impressed and he left approx 15 minutes later. Got call 1 hour later from same representative to say he was confirming nothing would be paid and he hung up. We are left to sort ourselves and got no help at all and very bad service from beginning. Definitely not renewing policy when due.

“Awful Servive”

Had a leaking joint under the bathroom sink and leaked onto the living room ceiling, causing damage to a section of the ceiling. contact Barclays Home insurance , explain what the problems was and was told that I can submit a claim. Sedgwick was assigned to carry out the assessment. The assessment was totally wrong. I was not at home to explain and answered any question. He was in and out within 30.00mins. The claim was repudiated without any conversation. This company was un-professional in their approach. Thank you Barclays Home Insurance for nothing. Will not be renewing my insurance with this company.

On 1st March I needed to claim due to a leak that had caused wet rot and full damage to our bathroom. The staff at the Perth Office were very informative, understanding and professional ( the worst weather in Perth today) . A cash settlement was agreed and made at the point of this telephone call which I am more than pleased with. Many many thanks to the wonderful staff.

“Loyalty To Shareholders”

written by davidowenf on 11/10/2017

Absolutely disgusted at the renewal quote and home and contents price I have been paying for years from them. £800 a year just looked to renew with Churchill and with a better level of cover 25% of the cost. Even Mr Turpin wore a mask.I have been loyal to Barclays, not any longer absolutely disgusted that they do not have their customers interests at heart very very angry to be honest as I had not been paying attention.Fool me once fool you fool me twice fool me and I am not your fool any longer I am pulling my accounts!

“Consistently surprising me”

written by on 17/06/2016

I suppose it's bad to think that i excpected to not have such an easy time with my claim. However in the last 3 years i have lost some very expensive In ear monitors costing £900 replaced on my contents insurance and my mobile replaced on the tech pack. Both times were so quick, call staff where helpful and fantastic. And i got my phone back in 2 days. it was totally smashed (s7 Edge so tricky screen to fix) and they did it fantastically. Repair centre definitely deserves a shout out. Very happy customer of 12 years

“DECLINED”

★☆☆☆☆

written by yfJacobs1990 on 26/03/2016

Went through quote process for contents insurance with Barclays today and after a long list of questions it was declined? No reason why no link to suggest where to get further information from which all seemed very odd. Then went on to another providers site and was offered contents insurance straight away. Feel its pretty shoddy to not even offer a reason or explanation why they refused. Pretty poor service really.

“Execellent Service”

I had a burglary on 13 Feb 2016,my wife's jewellery and approx £1500 were stolen. I had my content insurance with Barclays. I put my claim in the very next day and was expecting to go through another daunting experience after my burglary. However, I was so pleased to see the whole process proceed so smoothly and quickly that to not leave a review would have been an injustice to Barclays Home Insurance. The total time consumed in settling the claim over the phone was less then an hour and half. On 12th of March, 2016, 28 days later my whole claim was settled to my complete satisfaction. I was only covered for £500 cash at home, which was sent to me in 3 days. I should not have had that much cash at home anyway, my fault. Was very pleased with the whole process. Though very upset with the invasion of my privacy, but the ease with which the claim was settled offsetted my anger to a certain extent. Thank you Barclays, Definitely recommend Barclays for Home Insurance.

“Poor admin and an extortionate rate hike”

★★☆☆☆

written by alanhastings on 16/12/2015

I have purchased Barclay's Finer Insurance for a number of years, because I thought the idea of specifying 'valuable' cover a good one and there were other benefits, legal cover as standard, items protected away from the home etc. It was never a cheap policy, but I thought I was getting value. Each year the premium increased, but I was able to restrict the amount of increase. Invariably, this led to errors in the direct debit schedule. There was an apology and I was offered a cash payment, which effectively discounted the premium. Part of the confusion might be because Barclay's Finer Insurance or should it be Gresham Insurance (in T&Cs) is underwritten by Aviva, so discussing payments can get very confusing. It was also the only D.D. not to transfer automatically when I 'switched' current accounts. Anyway, back to premiums:last year, our 'reduced' premum was £447 and this year the renewal was for £577, a huge rise, by any standards. Not only that , but when I called Customer Service they said they had "no room for negotiation" and this raise was typical of Contents Insurance rates. I should also point out that I have made any claims under the policy. So, I looked at Hiscox, which I expected to be more expensive. In fact, I was able to get almost identical insurance with £20k extra 'valuables' insurance and £50k extra legal protection for a premium of £262. So thank you Barclay's for encouraging me to look elsewhere.

We were flooded through 3 floors . rude surveyer.i am sure he broke health and safety rules by hanging out of a third floor window on one leg to photo roof.Toldpointed at boxes in the hall and said i wasnt insured for runing a business from home ,the boxes had my dads belongings in them he has recently died he was in my house aprox 5 minutes told me i wasnt insured for that kind of damage rang customer services got unhelpfull woman .Rang back spoke to a boy who was a bit better. But had to stand my ground to get claims resolution company involved What do you pay for .The stress of dealing with the claim and Barclays is worse than the flood .Keep well away rubbish poor unproffesional service like the other lady blood out off a stone comes to mind . Barclays should list what you are insured for because it would save on paper because its not very much.

written by IzabellaRussoItalian429 on 07/10/2014

after been with barclays insurance for the best part of ten years i had to make a claim for damaged flooring it was nightmare from start till when i told them to stick there claim were the claim fairy cant find it. it all started when i phoned to make the claim the call center did not want to know at all and said a out side company would be in touch the next day. which they did. the company is ASPREA a aviva company that barclays now use first they wanted me to take photos of the damage and email them to there call center as they dont send out people any more so i did that and they rang to say they could try and repair the floor with plastic but they could not say if it would last.when i told them that i would not be happy with that as the flooring had cost well over £1000 not including the fitting of it and i did have new for old they then said well that is all they would offer and too top it all they then told me that it would not be insured for any more damage that may happen that was the last straw.i think they make the claim apain so you just give up on it so dont go there not worth the time and pain it will cause

“ware and tear”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DulceDonahue on 01/10/2014

My wife lost a diamond out of her trilogy ring. When i got the estimate it was £175 for the stone and £125 for the setting of the stone and rebuild.I was told by the insurance they would give me only £100 as i have £75 excess and the stone came out because of ware and tear.So i would have to pay for it fitting myself. When i took out the insurance they said if something was broke/stolen/damaged they would pay to have it replaced. What a lie.

Typical of them. They love to use "ware and tear" as a get out clause. I made a genuine claim for an incident i had no control over and they classed it as ware and tear. I have been paying extra for the full accidental cover, too.

AVOID AT ALL COST !

We claimed a flooding damage to the wooden floor. they removed floor boards in two weeks time, we are in the 4th month now and job still hasn't finished yet, nothing has been done since. there's a Barclays contractor called Expert. they're truly dull minded and dull acting. they can't communicate they don't return calls, total failure. my living room at the moment is inhabitable, I can't invite people it's like a building site. Barclays is not reliable at all. This contractor called Expert is also so unprofessional. I am disappointed.
