“I absolutely love lighter life have lost 3 1/2 sone,...”

Written on: 06/07/2017 by Isobel23 (1 review written)

I absolutely love lighter life have lost 3 1/2 sone, recommended it to friends and family and probably introduced at least 6 takers to it. I recently joined an on line group and although internet savvy did not see the bit about Lighter Life will take £60 every month - I thought it was a one off payment for one month and as I do not have too much to lose - that was for me. Lighter life has continued to take the £60 - I have asked for a refund of the two minths taken without my permission… Read Full Review

“Avoid the carbonara pasta”

Written on: 23/01/2017 by KiJay (1 review written)

I just started the 5:2 so it was unfortunate I picked the carbonara (I choke as I type the word) first! Argh!!, the taste memory STILL haunts me. It is totally inedible. I ended up throwing it away as it made me gag. I didn't want to add seasoning (not that any could help it) because that defeats the point and could, potentially, mess with the calories - a complete waste of money. Having said ALL that, everything else I've tried is wonderfully tasty (I adore the porridge especially) so I'll… Read Full Review

“Lighterlife - Bad customer service”

Written on: 12/11/2015

How I wish I'd read these reviews before signing up. As there are no classes in my area I signed up online. I completely misunderstood what I was signing up for - thinking I had signed up for the food plan, ie, I would be receiving food packs in the post, and there was also the telephone group which I thought was part and parcel of the food. Not unreasonable as I'd paid out £60 I don't think. I had my first telephone counselling session the next day, thinking it was odd I'd had no… Read Full Review

“Absolute Rip-Off - don't do it!”

Written on: 31/12/2014 by MaddoxDugan (1 review written)

I have to question why Lighter Life clients are made to undergo 'counselling' with a so-called trained professional, when all they do is state the obvious, while I for one had to give up virtually a whole Saturday morning to listen to what was just common sense. Lighter Life are making a fortune in misleading people to a 'dramatic weightloss' as they put it, when in fact they are overcharging for virtually inedible shakes, soups and bars. Anyone can see that it's possible to lose weight on a… Read Full Review

“Disgusting customer service”

Written on: 19/09/2014 by julienorman (1 review written)

Lighterlife decided to close the Weston Super Mare office - the award winning one with more clients than anywhere else.....and didnt bother to tell anyone. Just made a phonecall to each member and offered a phone conversation for the same price as counselling session and order our food online!!! Just like that!!! Now everyone feels completely abandoned by LL. Some people have been on the diet and paid a lot of money over many months just to be dumped with no explanation whatsoever. They… Read Full Review

“Short term fix...long term problems!”

Written on: 27/07/2014

Yes, I lost 3 stone in 9 weeks....great at the time! Despite following all the guidelines, I suffered terrible stomach cramps, very dry skin, blurred vision, flaking nails.....and most traumatically for me...lost loads of hair! (My pride and joy) My hair has never recovered it's thickness and texture! This diet wreaked my metabolism. Had to eat like a mouse for several months, very slowly adding a little bit more in an attempt to get it back to a more normal balanced range. I lost some fat… Read Full Review

“inedible”

Written on: 29/06/2014 by MarcDavidson (1 review written)

I tried the lighterlife fast pasta carbonara purchased from superdrug, its was absolutely vile and inedible. I am the kind of girl that can usually force anything down no matter how disgusting, this was awful beyond my ability. The price is an absolute rip off and they are taking desperate for all they have, i live on child benefit as my income seperate from my husbands and i feel gutted spending what little i have on this. At least make sure something is fit for consumption before releasing it… Read Full Review

“Can someone tell me Lighterlifes " cultural profile"? ”

Written on: 20/06/2014 by Luna381 (1 review written)

Went for a job interview as a Senior Admin. After 45 min of drilling into my experience, skills, personal life, education, work history, etc and my personal experience with health, sports and nutrition, their response was; capable to perform all the job requirements and duties....But "DOES NOT FIT OUR CULTURAL PROFILE" I thought I went for a job interview, not a Private Social Club Membership… Read Full Review

Hi there,
I have experience of this company...and trust me, you had a lucky escape!
'Cultural profile' usually covers several elements like RELATIONSHIPS, COMMUNICATION SKILLS etc. In a nutshell...your personal approach and attitudes towards a broad scope of cultural considerations! Or, put yet another way......you see the World the way they do!!! You sound too much of an individual to have ever fitted in....haha! Good luck.

“Tried it for a day! Psychologically damaging! ”

Written on: 19/01/2014 by Cinnamon2014 (1 review written)

This is the worst diet I've seen to date! Not being a fan of diets and knowing why I've put on weight (the usual bad meal timings due to studying commitments), I tried this after seeing a colleague lose weight on it! After a day of eating those disgusting meal supplements, I felt woozy, cold, clammy and experienced insomnia - symptoms I've never experienced whilst fasting for religious reasons. I instantly realised this diet was going to give me psychological issues I've never had. And as… Read Full Review

It sounds to me that you DO have deep seated issues, a lot of anger and judgement. If we could all be autonomous and disaplind we would all be slim and in control. The food industry wouldn't make so much money out of us. £10 per day for phycological guidance and all the food your body needs doesn't sound expensive to me.

Willajohn's Response to Cinnamon2014's Review

Written on: 01/04/2014

I've been on lighter life for 1 month now and lost 2 stone. I'm a 44 year old successful business owner with a very strong personality and a recently discovered underactive thyroid problem. This is the most amazing and best diet i have ever attempted. I wish i'd done it years ago. Yes everything they say is obvious ( to me it is as i'm very well educated and make it my business to find out about things) But it still works if you work it! ( as they say in lots of 12 step programmes!) I was desperate, not massively fat (15 stone) but as i told my husband its this or a gastric band. This wins out every time. The ability to take a step back and reassess and re-evaluate one's relationship with food is fantastic, And i like the packs, maybe because i dont eat junk food or take aways I like the absolute parameters, but then i'm a person who, when i set my mind to it, it gets done. And £73 a week for 6 monhts for a lifetime of avoiding diabetes , heart disease, hip and knee replacement and looking like a wreck is worth it . Besides that would buy me 3 drinks at my local! Each to their own, but i can't recommend this highly enough.

“Dangerous diet”

Written on: 13/01/2014

I went for an interview with Lighter Life as a potential counsellor. I came away feeling distraught at the lack of medical support on offer for such a drastic diet. I felt it was a very expensive plan which, after reading many reviews online doesn't seem to work for too many people. I did not take the job… Read Full Review

“Total scam”

Written on: 26/10/2012

I did Lighter Life a few years ago and lost 3½ stone. This was more due to being with a great group who all encouraged each other. The councellor was also doing the diet while instructing us, but cheated just about every week - and told us! Since then I put all the weight back on. I've just started the diet again. Paid the new £60 per month 'admin fee' as well as around £120 on two weeks' food packs. I was enrolled without presenting a medical form, but then told two weeks in that I… Read Full Review

I have never paid an admin fee, even when restarting after a break. You've been conned!

I've been on and off this diet several years. Trouble is, I know it works if I stick to it. So that tells me I can cheat today - and diet tomorrow. Maybe. I'm resistant to the psychology.

After a recent break, I find they've again changed one of my favourite L-L foods. Cranberry/raspberry bars now have a horrible salty and synthetic taste. Over the years lots of favourites have been stopped.

I'm told L-L change/stop the recipe of packs/bars for nutritional reasons. In which case, have I not been getting correct nutrition while on the old recipes? Or are there other reasons - cost cutting?

“LL diet - awful”

Written on: 08/09/2012

Very overpriced nonsense. I don't need counselling, I know I was fat because I ate too much out of greed. I switched to exante and lost 5 stone in 3 months. At 100 pounds per month it was a LOT cheaper and I haven't put the weight back on because I have done plenty of research on my own about how to maintain a normal weight. We must stop waiting to be told what to do all the time by counsellors, GP's etc, responsibility for being fat is in our own hands. If you want to get the weight off… Read Full Review

I totally agree with this review! Although I had an excellent LL counsellor and a fab group (joined in 2009 and still meet regularly now as a group at each others houses), once I lost the weight (5 and 1/2 stone in 21 weeks with NO cheating) I knew exactly what I had to do to keep it off. I have gone up and down around two stone since coming off the packs at the beginning of 2010 but know what I have to do when I feel it needs dealing with and can't justify the price tag of LL now.

I have also gone on to EXANTE packs and just before Christmas I lost 22lbs in 5 weeks and am maintaining well. At just over £100 a month it's a no-brainier. The only downside is I don't like their bars and wish I could still get the LLnut fudge bars but you can't have everything!!

Would definitely recommend a ketogenic diet but they must be done responsibly.

“Demoralising.”

Written on: 05/08/2012

My sister and myself did this diet last year. I lost 2 and a half stone and my sister 4 and a half. I have put a stone back on and my sister all of it. It's a diet that makes you feel totally deprived and isolated. The counselling is a load of jumbo jumbo about adult state and child state. Nobody mentions hungry state which is what you are permenantly. It's like hunger is wrong and your made to feel guilty for it. I am at Slimming World now and losing weight steadily. I would never recommend… Read Full Review

I agree about most of the counseling stuff is bs but u just have to take away what u need from it. For me it's just about thinking positive eating a more balanced diet and learning to enjoy and want healthy food and to unhealthy food. Also do more excercise but just generally being more active. I think they are talking a load of junk on the psychology side, like what u say about the child state they have used bad analagies and poor psychology in my oppinion but no doubt that the diet is working and although I feel hungry some times iv worked out a routine that works for me which is a packet for breakfast and lunch then an afternoon meal like 5ish then a packet in the evening cos thats when I was snacking most. Also I drink as much tea as my dairy allowance will allow as well as water to fill me up any other time I feel hungry. It's been 2 weeks and iv lost 6kg hoping to loose almost 2st in just over 4 weeks. Obv it's difficult as yo have to control cravings but it's a good excercise in will power and I have not strayed yet although I do enjoy watching other ppl enjoying food I'd like to be eating lol,it's creeping out my bf but it's not for too long. I just miss the variety. But looking forward to fitting in to my new clothes iv bought as an incentive and push to do it as too late to get a refund so I have to make it and I WILL!! Good luck xxx

“Lighter Life? - Steer well clear!!”

Written on: 18/05/2012 by 6129tony (1 review written)

Some years ago I went on the LL diet programme and stuck to it religiously, even forgoing my Christmas dinner. I lost 91/2 stones and found that I could buy off the peg clothes for the first time in 25 years. I felt good about my appearance, but I was always tired and cold, so I didn't really feel good 'inside'. I was 26 stone when I started, and 161/2 stone at the end. As soon as I started to eat I gained weight. I was only eating light meals, but the weight piled on and on. I now weigh 291/2… Read Full Review

I had a baby 1 year ago through IVF which included me being on steriods for 4 months. 1 year on and I haven't lost the weight I would like & as I'm keen to do another round of IVF i want to lose around 2 stone over the next 3 months. I didn't want to do the full on LL programe as I had read some negative reviews and want to be as healthy as possible going into IVF. I also have to entertain clients at lunch time and knew that total abstinence of food couldn't work (my issue is evening meal… Read Full Review

I lost 6 stone on this diet in 6 months! Wow that's impressive isn't it ? Well let me tell you that I have now gained all of the weight plus another stone. They cannot cope with someone who wants support?! This sort of drama-queen statement is what makes your review less than trustworthy. Yes, you do seem like a woman who is blaming others for her unhappiness, unfortunately.

It seems that for those who went back to a dreadful diet and unsurprisingly put on their weight again are the ones who say LL is rubbish...and id be interested in your medically verified evidence that LL caused your gall stone..

“Big Mistake”

Written on: 12/02/2012

5 years ago I had an injury which resulted in me giving up a very active life and job. Weight piled on and I went from 9st to over 13stones in 4 years, I am only 5ft 1" so as you can imagine I was fat and my BMI showed that I was dangerously obese. Just tried Lighter Life and had to come off it after 5 days, it made me feel so ill, i had headaches, was freezing cold and had kidney pains. Its a very big ask expecting people to survive on 500 cals a day, the food packs arent great, the shakes amd bars are nice, but the main meals are disgusting and the people that are on it who say the meals are tasty probably think they are tasty as its all they can eat, it is essentially starvation as you cant eat a thing except the 4 food packs a day… Read Full Review
