“But disappointed ”

Booked holiday through private caravan owner. The van and pitch were incredible and owner so very helpful. ( this is the bit I would recommend) The rest of the holiday re entertainment and cost really left a lot to be desired. Although passes purchased were £89 for 4 days I was given them for 3 days only because it went into off peak (when I had phoned up a week earlier about booking the passes I was told I would be charged off peak prices ( wish I had booked over uk the phone now!) I said I’d book slots and pay for passes all together when I got there …( I was sorry then) . Bungee wasn’t working all the week we were there, they closed the outdoor pool and we were in the middle of a heat wave ( this was down to each holiday parks manager as to open the outdoor pool or not. Clearly more money to be made by only keeping the indoor pool open ! The drains in the indoor pool were filthy, and dirty bedding was left outside the next door caravan for 3 days in split bags. So in summary I would recommend the caravan and pitch, so would book again, but not bother to waste money on the entertainment passes… would not recommend quay west for their entertainment and service (rubbish)Additional costs for nearly everything … thank goodness for the beach and the sunshine.

“Nice Park, But”

★☆☆☆☆

Absolutely disgraceful. Dirty dance floor/stage, people riding scooters on the crazy gold course and messing around, uneven slabs outside the caravans, cooker not working, fridge toppled over ever time you opened the door, park is miles from attractions and supermarkets. Put in a complaint but still unresolved , not go there again, bit sad as never had a bad Haven holiday till this one

holidayed here last year ,on sun offer , a bit congested trying to check in , but good clubhouse and amusements ,friendly helpful staff , caravan superb , kitchen utensils dirty but then everywhere we go we like to clean it as if it was our own ,doesn't take long , then you can relax properly . superb location overlooking the bay across to newquay , tricky little walk down to beach but once your there , lovely walk across the sand to the harbour , see the dolphins and seals then into the pub near the bottom of the hill , great ale , great food , great atmosphere ,late closing , live music ,then taxi back to camp , steep hill but ok if your fit and not to drunk . great holiday , would definitely go again,

We booked a superior caravan at the last minute and got a great deal from haven holidays. Caravan very clean. Smallish site so everything easily accessible. Friendly staff and decent entertainment. Two well maintained and clean swimming pools. Easy access to beach and New Quay town. Equipment in caravan could have included microwave and decent digital tv, only 3 working channels, but not major problems. New Quay town offers dolphin spotting boat trips which were excellent.

Quay West, Haven Holidays, is a quiet and beautifull place to relax, great for kids to have some freedom. Friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere. Also excellent entertainment in the nights.

“My Husband and I, along with our 3 daughters have just...”

My Husband and I, along with our 3 daughters have just spent a long weekend at Quay West Haven holiday park. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely consider returning there. We did upgrade to a luxury caravan and found this to be excellent. Very spacious and clean. I usually find that the caravan toilets do have a urine smell about them but the two toilets in this one didn't at all.

We did run out of gas but the gas bottle was replaced within half an hour which we thought was excellent.

The kitchen area was of a decent size with all the facilities you need for a weekend or weeks holiday. Living area in the caravan was very spacious allowing for a seating area around the table aswell as a large lounge area for chilling out and watching tv etc.

My two elder children attended the kids club in the morning which they enjoyed and also had a picnic with Bradley the Bear which was lovely for them as they got to keep their wicker picnic baskets.

Evening entertainment for children was great too - it kicked off with the characters doing a little show, followed by family bingo and onto dancing and games with the fun factor reps. The entertainment staff were really good with the kids and the entertainments manager, was a real talent (she used to be on Biker Grove you know!). There were plenty of dance routines for the kids to copy.

We tended to eat in the caravan but I did have a Sunday lunch in the restaurant which was really quite good - it was a carvery and the chef served up a very generous helping of beef and lamb and obviously as much veg as you like.

My husband took our daughters swimming whilst I ate my lunch and looked after the baby. The changing room facilities were perfectly adequate and the pool itself was clean - although not overly large but ideal for the amount of guests using it at that time. There is an outside pool which is just being completed and is due to open this month sometime. The only bad point I came across was in the show bar - there are far too many tables crammed into the space - obviously there are alot of guests with pushchairs who attend in the evenings and you literally just cannot get through the maze of chairs and tables. I can see that they probably need this much seating in high season but it was far from busy when we were there.

when i booked a Haven Holidays, Quay West i told them my husband was disabled but they put us in a caravan milesaway from car on a hill where i could not get a wheel chair when i complained they moved us at extra cost to me. Caravan was ok clean but that was about it. The park itself was great and clean staff were friendly. there was lots to do and see on and off the park. Dolphins were amazing worth staying just for them.

“I have stayed at this Haven Holidays park on a couple...”

written by Scrump1 on 20/02/2009

I have stayed at this Haven Holidays park on a couple of occasions (Sept' 2007 & May 2008) and l would definately return in the future.
I visited with extended family (4 adults) and two young children (aged 1 & 2) and the silver caravan we were in was spacious enough for all of us.
Great wooden playground for very young children, a small soft indoor play area & shallow pool entered at toe depth - all great for youngsters.
Helpful staff - when our gas supply ran out during the evening it was replaced within half an hour.
Lovely beach.
Good early evening entertainment for children - never managed to stay late enough to sample the adult entertainment.
A beautiful part of Wales, with a lovely beach and the quaint nearby town of New Quay within walking distance (by beach or road).
If my little girl had anything to do with it - we'd still be there! She squeals with delight when she's see's our holiday dvd of our time there. There were a few downsides, in our opinion there were poor pool side changing facilities.
you seem unable to park next to some caravans and limited nearby parking bays.
Food purchased at the bar was of an average quality and we thought expensive for what it was.
We thought drinks at the bar were expensive.
Beach accessed down a steep hill and metal steps - no good if you suffer from vertigo!
We had to travel to Aberystwyth or Cardigan for the nearest supermarket -as we thought the local shops were expensive.

Good points - Not sure I can think of any. It was all pretty terrible.
Bad points - Where do I start....inadequate caravan, no pathway to caravan just mud, parents just letting their kids run riot so they can get smashed every night. Food appalling, swimming pool freezing cold. The shows each evening are exactly the same. The characters are cliched. The entertainers are dull. Don't waste your money. Its like taking a holiday with the neighbours from Hell.

written by jennyp0808 on 15/08/2008

We stayed at Quay West in April this year. The only hiccup was the accommodation first assigned. This was only accessed by steps up or down to the caravan. This would have impossible with a 2 year old grandson and pram and a disabled hubby. Once, back at reception the girl couldn't have been more helpful assigning us an adapted caravan right near to the entrance. The best thing for me was not having a mammoth queue when booking in, there was only us and my brother and sister-in-laws family. After the mega queue at Hafan y Mor in March this was a welcome relief. We were on a News of the World £9.50 holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The park was quiet, but enjoyable. And the weather could not have been better, very hot and rained once or twice at night, We had a walk into the town which was lovely and beach lovely and clean. Overall great holiday. Only down side, spent far too much time in arcades (as usual) and was too embarrassed to shout loudly when I won at Bingo. Long drive down, but definitely worth it. Just a shame the only takeaway is Burger King (too expensive). There needs to be some alternatives.

written by kiteflyer on 06/09/2007

We stayed at Quay West Haven Holiday Park on a Sun offer, and we were really pleased to have a large clean caravan with a fabulous view of Cardigan Bay. The tides were against us for spending too much time on the beach at the bottom of the cliff, but New Quay beach was lovely, and we got the added bonus of spotting dolphins in the bay. Would recommend this site for a family holiday.
