Lots happening and setting is breathtaking. Caravan clean and exceeds what I imagined. Staff friendly and welcoming and the complaints lady fixed my small problem within the same day. Entertainment staff work so hard and they kept the kids busy. Pool could be bigger but all in all a happy customer and will return

Just returned from a 4 night break at Haggerston Castle. Myself and son and a great time. The site offered all that we needed. We were very pleased to be upgraded on our arrival. The caravan was very clean and warm (however lacked instructions to work central heating). The staff were excellent, and very helpful. Assistant leisure manager gave some very good service. My son aged 8 enjoyed the high ropes and aqua jets, and found them good value for money. We also had a massage in the spa, and Gemma gave me some pain but was very good. My son had his first massage too, and loved it, some very lovely people in the spa. The mash served some good food and drink, however the heating needed to be turned up, we were freezing, wear a jumper. The evening entertainment is not something that I enjoy, but many others did. The site has a 9 hole golf course which could do with some money and tlc spent on it, however could not fault the staff. Haggerston castle is on the A1 and you really need a car to get anywhere. Places I recommend: Holy island, Alnwick gardens and Castle a must. We did go to the Tree top restaurant, and was a magical experience, however very disappointed with the food. A vey enjoyable holiday, thankyou Haven

just back from a weeks stay , read a few reviews before i left and felt very anxious about going but actually our caravan was spotless where we were situated was perfect close to complex and shops . staff were nice and friendly and the childrens entertainers were fantastic . the swimming pool was the highlight of my kids week , my 8 yr old son can now swim after having a few lessons there . my only complaint about the kids activities would be the power fan , my son ended up with rope burns on his neck after getting tangled so maybe there should be a height restriction instead of age also i wasnt to impressed with the breakfast served at the mash n barrel . i would recommened this holiday to family and friends and will probably go back for a weekend stay !!

We have been to this site a few times, and generally its okay. Iwas in the laundry room and all everyone complained about the quality of there accomodation. For instance my daughter had booked a platinum caravan, I dont think so after seeing my daughter in laws caravan. My daughters caravn was cramped and did not resemble any of the pictures on there website though her location was nice but only because we had a linked booking. We choose a lodge this time which was nice and spacious but as per normal needed cleaning which is par for the course with this lot. The grounds are well maintained and the staff are helpful. They have made alot of changes for the better, got rid of the bowling alley which you were hard pressed to find in the first place, and most of those dreadful slot machines, and also upgraded or created new areas. They only have one lounge now which isint big enough, but the resturant is shinny and new, long may it last. My biggest complaint is still the cleaning they have a real problem there and it needs to be addressed.

We booked a short break at Haggeston Castle via a daily newspaper. We didn't read any reviews beforehand so didn't come with any preconceptions. We parked up in the main car park which was chocka and wondered what we had let ourselves in for. However once the initial delay of checking in had passed we thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our break. The caravan was very clean with plenty of room, but we'd only booked Deluxe so found it was very cold at night. (We didn't discover the bed in the lounge until the last day)
The park was clean with plenty of availability of amenities. Entertainment was good, our 1 year old loved meeting the characters. We're glad we took the plunge and tried one of these type of holidays, so much so we have booked our next one - again without resorting to reading reviews. Roll on April we can't wait!!

we arrived at haggerston castle for 3 nights on friday 29th october, when we arrive, the check-in was too long, we got checked in 10 minutes late which was shocking as we had the 2 cocker spaniels with us, the caravan was based beside the complex, the food from the chippy was horrible and glases, the entertainment was superb, the diet cola from the bar was waterley and i got diet cola from burger king which was nice, the sports bar was fun in the afternoon of halloween with the newcastle vs sunderland match, halloween night was great to watch in showbar, i enjoyed myself and didnt want to come home, my girlfriend had a great time as did the dogs and will be going back to haggerston castle in the near future.

Been to Haggerston Castle several times, its deffinatley the best caravan site in north east. However when my dad and his family went there in August the caravan they were staying in was far from clean, sofas were dirty and had blood on, but the rest of the caravan was average, for the amount they paid they were expecting something of better standard. I am going up next week but we take our own caravan so i no that i wont have that problem. Entertainment is good it is a little over priced but i think overall its worth it, theres loads for kids to do aswell and i cant say that whenever ive visited i noticed any kind of smell but they do have horses so i suppose youve got to expect it.

good points; myself (14 years of age) and my mum had a 2010 caravan, which was spotless when we arrived. the staff were extremely helpful. the site is very well kept (men driving around in little carts to pick up dog business on a regular basis). not too far from berwick, holy island, newcastle and alnwick. plenty of things for smaller kids on site. the shop was great. overall really great!
bad points; the entertainment complex was a bit smelly and had music blasting over the top of all the music coming from the penny machines.
i'd recommend you avoid that place if you can. its ok for about 5/10 minutes whilest waiting for a chipper/burger king etc but after that its begins to cause a headache.
if you happen to be near the side of the entertainment complex, i'd avoid chav alley, its full of teenagers smoking and can be a little intimidating. i couldnt tell you what the entertainment was like but from walking past the stage door we could hear the singers, but its pretty much the typical holiday singers i.e high school musical, camp rock = ultimate cheese fest.
The swimming pool; only 1 shower working, freezing cold water. couldnt swim in a 'swimming pool' had to bob about and try and avoid kids splashing and screaming and shouting.
another downside was the tv. it would loose signal for all channel at 9pm until we got a replacement. if your tv does this, check the white connection wire. it fixes it.
I'D RECCOMEND;
on site activites:
- Dino Carts
- Daisy Carts
- Water Walkers
- The Fish & chip shop
out of haggerston activites:
- alnwick castle gardens
- newcastle shopping
- holy island
- berwick market
AVOID:
the swimming pool
the entertainment complex for more than 10/20 minutes
if your looking for a central parks type holiday, dont expect that from haggerston, as i think half of the people on here think that and get their hopes up. expect a fun family holiday great for kids and adults.

Just back from long weekend at Haggerston. Cleanliness in the main area much improved since our last visit sometime ago. Toilets still pretty bad with no locks on some doors or loos not flushing. Bar prices pretty normal. Pool was great, but agree with other review only 1 shower working and it was freezing cold! Things to do on the park were great and the teams running them very competent. Caravan was amazing and not what I was expecting at all. Downside was some of the other "guests". Some real neanderthal types who only wanted to drink, swearing at their kids which makes it pretty difficult for yours to avoid. Also spotted a guy rolling "tabs" for a couple of ten year olds right in front of security at main door. Kids then smoked these and not a word was said by staff!

WE HAVE JUST COME BACK FROM A WEEK AT HAGGERSTON CASTLE. AFTER BOOKING I READ THE REVIEWS ( A LOT OF THEM WERE SCATHING) AND HAD SECOND THOUGHTS.
I DID EMAIL HAGGERSTON AND REQUESTED ACCOMMODATION AWAY FROM THE LAKE AREAS AND WERE GIVEN THE GOLF VILLAGE. THE CARAVAN WAS SPOTLESS, THE CROCKERY AND POTS EXCELLENT. FRIDGE, FREEZER, DISHWASHER. THE 3 BEDROOMS WERE TIGHT(IT IS A CARAVAN AFTER ALL) BUT WARDROBE SPACE GOOD.STAFF EXCELLENT. POOL AND CHANGING ROOMS EXCELLENT. THE SITE IS CONSTANTLY BEING KEPT NICE.IF FACT, I'VE GONE FROM CARAVAN SCEPTIC TO CARAVAN LOVER.

hi my name is donna i have been going to haggerston castle for 9 years and my children have grown up to love the place we go every year for a week in a presteige caravan usualy costing around 400/500 the accomodation has always been of good standard except on 1 occation which we were moved to a better one .i think the only down side to haggerston castle is space we always found it difficult to get a seat at shows ect and with children u need to be comfortable to spend a full night in the complex .the swimming needs to be more organised as it was a nightmare last year queing for hours at a time to get in ....over all great family park but definetly needs more space in family areas .

I went to Haggerston Castle in June last year and the kids liked it so much we went back in September. After reading many horrendous reviews I wasn't expecting too much, but was pleasantly surprised on arrival. The park is attractively laid out with lakes and woodland and was well maintained. We had a standard plus caravan both times as we took the dog - the first one was much cleaner than I thought it would be, and the second one must have been privately owned as it had double glazing, bedding and freeview tv. So that was a nice bonus.
We stayed for 4 nights each time and there was plenty to keep the kids (age 3 and 1) occupied so we didn't need to venture off site except for groceries in nearby Berwick. We went on the boating lake and our eldest had a pony ride which she loved (the stables are on site but are independently owned) and there's an outdoor fun area with trampolines and bouncy castle etc but these had to be paid for individually at about £1.50 a go. The park was expensive, but that is to be expected, and the swimming pool really wasn't worth the long wait, plus there is only about 2 cubicles to get changed in. The kids loved the shows at Carnabys, but it was a bit worn and grubby inside and very hot, but again expected due to the sheer volume of people that use it. There is a very small kids playground, but this can only be accessed through the entertainment complex - obviously a ploy to get you to go past all the slot machines. Overall, however, I've enjoyed both our visits and would recommend a family holiday here.

we spent a lovely week in haggerston in july. lots of things to do, the shop was a bit pricey but you expect that in a caravan park. the staff were very friendly and helpful.we did get wet in the amusments but we were in one of the biggest thunderstorms of the summer. the park is clean and well maintained. great place to be if you like nature as there are swans and gease everywhere.the funworks passes are a bit decieving they only give you access to the amusments and pools, you have to pay extra for everything else. as long as you have plenty of money and get good weather you can have a great holidday in fact we have just booked today to go back next year.

Having just returned home from a week long long stay at Haggerston, I must say that we all (2 adults & 2 children) thoroughly enjoyed it. This was our first visit to any Haven park and we found Haggerston to be almost exactly as expected. The accomodation was more than adequate for our needs, we stayed in a prestige plus. It was all clean & tidy on arrival and I must say that the toilet, shower, microwave, cooker and fridge were all immaculate. Being a family of non smokers though our only minor complaint would be the cigarette ends that were scattered outside the caravan. The childrens entertainment we felt was very good and all the "Funstars" were very good with all the children and quite annept at what they do. All the facilities were quite adequate and the general standard of clenliness & hygeine all around was not at all bad considering the huge numbers of people constantly using them all. Had no complaint about any of the food from any of the outlets as it was all quite edibale and vastly overpriced at all. Do however be prepared for the constant assault on you finances though. They consitantly trying to sell the children momentos, esspecially during their shows. We found plenty to keep us all occupied from early morning till late evening - in fact I was glad to get back to work for a rest. We all enjoyed it enough that we booked for next year prior to our departure. Makes for a good break before we go off somewhere else the following month.

My partner and I have just returned from a 7 night stay at Haggerston with our 2 girls (4 and 9). Having read reviews before we went we were not looking forward to our trip but I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised. Our caravan (Platinum) was big, clean, well equipped and fresh with adequate facilities. There were a couple of minor points like the shower not having a shower head holder but you would have to be a real fuss pot to care about that kind of thing. As for the site itself, it was definitely one of the best Haven sites we have visited. Despite our caravan being quite a walk away from the main part of the complex, we found that the walk there past the swans, geese, ducks and lakes was a very nice one. Like every caravan complex, it could be quite expensive at times and definitely aimed at kids all the way. Its not a place for weak willed parents and you have to be ready to say no to kids' requests at times otherwise you will find yourself very out of pocket. Before you go, visit a pound shop and stock up on everything you can find that lights up or glows in the dark and take it with you. It will save you a fortune! The Funstar staff and bar staff were brilliant, good humoured and really looked like they cared about the kids and their grown ups and the shows were entertaining for everyone. Carnaby's , where most of the young kids stuff takes place, was always very hot and very crowded and you had to be down about an hour or so before the entertainment started to have any chance of a decent seat. I would recommend that you have a huge lunch instead of an evening meal so that you can be seated for around 5ish. The swimming was one of the only free things included in the price of the holiday and was fun even if the heated outdoor pool was about the same temperature as the average nightly bath (roasting). Despite the fun it was a bit of a hassle to actually get in to the swimming sessions and I would suggest you do not make it the focus of your holiday otherwise you may be disappointed. The horseriding, although expensive, was a very nice additional activity and even if you don't actually shell out the money to go riding ( £10 per person for a 20 minute trek), you are always free to walk round the stables at any time and pat the horses and ponies which became a highlight of our week. The funplex, next to the stables where they had gladiator games, trampolines and paintball target practice was cheaper than other activites on the site and was good value for money. In addition to this, the pedalos at the lake were fun but harder work peddling than they looked! There is a shop on site and although its dearer than average, it was still quite well priced (more Sainsburys prices than Farmfoods!) however, if you are taking your car, there is a Morrisons only a 10 minutes drive away. If you decide to eat out on site I would recommend the Aqua bar food which was lovely and good value for money. I would NOT recommend the chinese restaurant The Royal Garden. Despite the restaurant looking very pretty, the food was not nice, very limited and definitely not worth the money. If it was a takeaway you wouldn't use it again! I could go on but overall, I would highly recommend this site to your average holidaymaker although if you expect perfection, it might not be for you. Can I just add that I am quite a fussy person so if I was happy with Haggerston, then many others will be too!

Haggerston castle is a lovely place for a holiday. We found the entertainment was superb and the shows were great. We were there for a full week and enjoyed every momet of the holiday. We didnt want to come home. The sports bar shows live football and any other sport. Berwick i liked a bit more of than i did last year. There are 4 supermarkets at berwick and a little market. but northumberland is lovely place and i would go back to haggerston castle in the near future.
