Owned my WD1600 for 2 years & 8 months before the monitor blew up whilst I was drying one item in it. The on/off button would not switch the machine off and I was fortunate that I had some family round who could pull the machine away from the wall so I could unplug it as there was a strong smell of electrical burning after the initial bang! It had already had some dodgy moments whilst drying before too. Had a Candy machine previously which lasted about 5 minutes before the drying function went wrong! They are so badly made these days.

bought my ariston A1600WD just 2 weeks over a yr ago (which is usually the time it takes for these machines to start having problems!)and an engineer has already been out to mine.turns out my filter was clogged up due to lack of water pressure.anyway problem resolved but then a week ago the dryer has stopped working.it tumbles the washing but does'nt get hot.the same fault other people with the same machine are starting to endure.I think a replacement would be in order or at least a cost free repair.my last candy washer dryer lasted over 7yrs with only new pump needed.Very disapointed and feel cheated!

I will never buy another Ariston, Hotpoint or Indesit machine after this experience. When it works, it's great. But when it breaks down it takes over your life, and as it does so frequently, the hassle is just not worth it.

Very pleased with the Ariston 1600WD after purchase, but...
First the drying thermostat died, I called customer service and agreed with them that is was probably the thermostat. Arranged for the engineer to come and replace it. Took morning off work, for the engineer to turn up and confirm it was the thermostat and have to order the part! 1 week later, another day off work and the part was replaced.
1 month later the drum won't empty, call customer service, engineer on site next week! Remover unit, take back off, find drain filter, remove and clean dog hair and fluff. This machine is 2 months old and the un-user serviceable filter is completely blocked.
DON'T BUY THIS MACHINE. Shame, because when it works, it's great.

Bought the Ariston 1600WD in currys Dec 04, After initially being great, the dry function failed after about two months This washing machine has not dried successfully. The engineer did not stick around to verify that his "fix" worked (which it didn't) and therefore the engineer's journey was wasted. We have had 4 visits and now the machine has totally failed (wash and dry) I blame the engineer. Customer services have been very difficult and refuse point blank to replace the thing. It is a worthless piece of junk at the moment. Not recommended

We bought this Ariston 1600WD in Jan 05, it worked fine for a month and then the dryer function broke, Ariston sent a technician to fix it, which he thought he did, day after it broke again, five seperate technicians have been to see it and all have claimed to have fixed it, but haven't. The dryer now has been broken for over a month and Ariston have only just decided that it should be replaced. When this product was working it was very good, just hope you get one that works.

I found this review very helpful because... I also have an Ariston 1600wd and oh how I wish I ghad seen these reviews before bought mine and it started to go wronG! Have had it about 1 and a half years. THe machine does not empty all water out at end of wash. If I put it on a cotton wash at 60oC, then the wash takes about 6 hours, and today I came downstairs to smell a plastic burning smell and to find two red light on the front. Checked out these reviews and think I had better get a new machine!
