I bought this Advent 7016 on behalf of a yachting friend who wants to use it as a chart plotter. As the charts only take up 3GB of hard drive space and will allegedly run on a 486 machine, using the Advent is a bit of an overkill. Better to have and not need than to need and not have though!
Good screen, powerful! also extremely cheap secondhand (£85 in Jan 2009) USB ports are USB2.0 Still has a parallel port so legacy printers can still be used. Quite nice keyboard action. Probably more computing power than a 1960s Mainframe. BARGAIN!

I bought an Advent 7106 about a year ago from PC world, all worked fine for about 4 weeks until a couple of letters came off the key board. PC world sent it off and got it back about a week later all fixed. This laptop is ok for general computing but would get really hot, the fan would work overtime and then the laptop would shut down, also the battery life is about an hour at best .The next problem is one of the hinges on the lid just fell off and now it shuts down after about a minute. So in my opinion this laptop is a piece of crap, could just be a dodgy one but after looking on the internet I think I had a good one!

Bought the Advent 7016 second hand from Ebay twelve months ago. Cost me £700.00, best machine by far for limited budget. Never take it to PC world do your own upgrades! Works faster and better with 1Mb of RAM but it does get a bit hot. Starting to get a bit out of date nowadays but still good machine.
