“Bought my wife a 54 plate Renault Clio Privilege 1.5...”

★★★★☆

Bought my wife a 54 plate Renault Clio Privilege 1.5 dCi 80, Sept 07 from main Salisbury. New turbo fitted during the service, under warranty. Also took extended Renault warranty for further two years. Apart from the annoying sunroof rattle and discovering the number plate connector has corroded it ' s been a good reliable car returning around 53mpg on the school run (5 miles). Today I drove return trip Bournemouth to Cardiff (the first time I was allowed to ' borrow ' her car). I was surprised at just how nippy it is. Handling is positive on the corners, plenty of power for overtaking and cruised without effort on the motorway. Pulls well from 2000 rpm passing other diesels on the hills without effort. It returned 73.5mpg on the trip.

“What a car, bought the Renault Clio DCi Expression...”

★★★★★

What a car, bought the Renault Clio DCi Expression (80bhp) to reduce costs on my 130 mile daily round trip to work. Had a Volvo V40 Estate Diesel before and this car is just so much fun to drive, at work they have started calling me "Kevin" and think I should wear a baseball cap, as once you get behind the wheel you feel 18 again!
I have the metallic black version the 80 bhp, 5 dr. It has all the things you need/like, PAS, Air Con, Sun Roof, Electric Windows, Mirrors, Alloys, often think something wrong with the fuel guage as it hardly moves..... Tax has just reduced to £35 per year as it is a M1 bracket (below 120 co2) excellent! and the insurance is less than the Volvo. Only bad point that I can think of is the amount of room in the back for your passengers - there's not a lot of space.

“Acquired the DCi 80bhp version of the Renault Clio...”

★★★★★

written by peacheyt on 23/02/2005

Acquired the DCi 80bhp version of the Renault Clio Expression as a second car a year ago.
Have driven many different cars I find this as much fun to drive as anything I have driven before.
It is responsive, quick to accelerate and will happily cruise at motorway speeds and beyond without feeling stressed and with minimal engine noise.
It is only at low speeds that you can tell its a diesel.
The best bits are that due to its low CO2 emissions it falls into the £85 per annum road tax bracket, is cheap to insure and even when driven hard returns over 60mpg. I have gone over 700 miles between fill ups.
The Expression spec is not great but has single slot cd and electric front windows/mirrors and height adjustable driver's seat.
I also tried the 65 bhp version which is slower but might give slightly better fuel economy. I would recommend the 80 bhp as the better option.
