I have been doing bank transfers with western union every month for 3 years. Last month my transfers started being rejected due to i'm doing bank transfers from my bank account to myself while i'm in the Philippines. It's how I have been sending myself my money. I have contacted western union in several different ways. I have called long distance to get someone on the phone that didn't even know what a bank transfer was and that I needed to go into a western union location and send it.... I am sending money to myself. You can't believe me when i say how hard it was to try to get them to understand this!! I got nowhere!! Many many emails were sent and mainly getting them to send the same copy and past of giving them information and I sent to get the same copy and past reply. Is this really how customer service is? Finally I talked with my bank and they said it is probably the IP address issue. Which it was, so now I had my sister log in and send it, it worked but wanted more information and to call in. I had her call in and they denied it and hung up.... great service....

Would never deal with western union again I sent money via western union to a Chinese seller on line about a jersey the seller told me he did have my size so I asked for my money back which he refused I contacted western union and explained this to them they told me they fraud very seriously 3 weeks passed I contacted them they told me they could help I ask them if as good will token could they refund me my money as I am a oap they refused

Western union is one of the worst companies I've ever use to do a money transfer. Correction, it is the Worst company. They took the money out of my bank account and won't let the receiver take it. because the transaction is "ON-HOLD" for no reason whatsoever. the customer service is deplorable. I will NEVER use them again.

Would not answer a single question straightforwardly. Refused my transfer. No specific reason given. Wasted 20 minutes on the phone. Do not use WU. My rating is zero. This review was written by a University Professor attempting to reimburse a Research Assistant doing philanthropic medical work in a needy country. I explained that to the WU agent. She expressed indignant arrogance and total lack of compassion for human beings. This indicates high level indifference in the company is probably an overriding factor governing policy, which is intended to limit risk at any cost.

The first lady I talked with was nice. Transferred me to someone who could assist with my payments. The second person I spoke with treated me like an idiot stating I was clicking the wrong button and kept telling me to look at the top of the page. After closer look at the screen, there were 3 buttons that stated exactly what she was saying (one at the top and two in the middle). I informed the person assisting me that there were 3 buttons and they continued to inform me I was incorrect and there was one. After I picked the MIDDLE button, I quickly got through my transaction, which (my error) I didn't set it up for re-occurring like I wanted to. The customer service person stated that I was yet again wrong as I missed several steps. Stated I was (in other words) wrong again by wanting to set my payment to come out of my account before my payment was due. I informed the person that I will be fine making one payment this time and I will try to set up automatic payments on my own. After reconfirming this, the representative hung up on me-

After reading so many bad comments from different people, from different part of the world it's urgent that this company need to do something very soon. So many people with bad experience are the results of their unpresionalism. Workers are horrible no matter the locations, they treated customers extremely rude, unprofessional and stuped. We as customers are the one doing business with WU. We doing them a favor by using their service and we get treated like they are the one doing us a favor. This is my second time using their service and will be the last, can't stand their service. Luck there is no zero star, because that is what they deserve. stupid company

So it is my first time sending money thru western union last Thursday thru there website, until now Friday 10pm they money haven't clear they gave the tracking# but it doesn't work. when I check they said I cannot said Monday! They said it will take 48 hours for my money to be release. But at there website states that it takes minutes to send money!!! so not recommended. even if you cancel your money send they said it will take 30 days!!

Western union thinks they are doing customers favor by transferring their funds forgetting that they charge pricy fees for their services. I wonder why this company continues to survive in the US inspite of their poor customer services and business practices. The money I transferred recently was put on hold for 2-3 days. They never called to notify me that the funds are on hold for xyz reasons. I got to know only when the recipient notified me that he has not received the funds. When I called and spoke to the associate, this guy behaved as if Western union was doing me a favor to transfer my funds. He questioned me about the funds and very deep personal questions. To them everyone is a bad guy and has to be securitized and answer dozens of personal questions. I was not prepared to deal with the type of questioning so I asked for the refund of my funds, which turned out to be another ordeal. I went to the store I transferred the funds. I was told no, because they can only refund up to $300. I was directed to another store. When I got there they were closed. I went there the next day only to be told that they were closing the next 5-10 minutes so there no cash to refund the money. With this experience, never in my life will I use Western union. When I went to my bank, I paid less fees and within 10 minutes I completed the transfer transaction. Guys, try your bank. It is faster and cheaper. This company will sit up when consumers whom they depended on for their business are treated with respect.

I tried 3 times to send money to India and it was declined every time. The first time was OK because it was the credit card company which decided that I couldn't possibly want to send money to India. Once I had that cleared out, I tried sending money again, this time to be declined without any explanation. Then I tried with another credit card. Same thing. I tried to get an explanation by calling them, but their staff is pretty useless, know nothing because they have department that do not communicate with each other. In the end they sent me an email with a form asking me all kind of detailed question about my life and who I was send money too, and what it was for. I guess they don't know the concept of privacy.

sent money to daughter in Miami from Uk she was on holiday and without money as her bank card had been cancelled she never received the money and it took one week and numerous telephone calls and visits to the sending agent before we got the money refunded if you phone western union they basically are polite but unable to help you one department doesn't communicate with another and the whole experience is totally depressing my advice is to avoid using them if possible

Tried to send money to Pakistan from the UK using their website and internet banking. They took the money ok from my account but couldn't send it to the man due to receive it .I received no email explanation . When I rang them they claimed I had not entered a code . This is untrue. i had They say it will take 7 working days which is 10 calendar days to return the money to my account . They could not explain why it was so long when they can take it instantly . Never again will I use this service.

2nd time I have had a problem with them, the first took 12 days to sort out! This time admittedly it did not take so long but what a shambles. They have to email their banking department and wait 24hrs for any sort of reply. You cannot get through to the same person twice.They do not call you back as promised.On their advice I registered an official complaint which eventually resulted in a refund of most of my money but not the full amount.So I now have a 2nd complaint to await the outcome of, where I have to send more information that they already have from the first complaint but because they have closed that one it all has to be resubmitted again because they have procedures to follow!!!In my 50+ years on this planet I have never had such poor service from a company and still no explanation of why my transaction was rejected.do not touch them with a barge pole and if I could have scored them a minus score it would have been -50!!!!!!!

I've been trying to cancel a WU transaction since last January and get them to refund the $900.00 that I sent to a family in Mexico who's 17 year old son was having critical cancer surgery. (I am friends with relatives here in Texas). WU denied the Receiver access to the money because I only refered to the receiver by her first and last name (as I was instructed by her relatives). Apparently, some Mexicans use about four names which was the case in this incident. Irregardless, Western Union should honor my request to simply cancel the transaction and refund MY $900.00! At least I can then send it with relatives going by bus. Despite dozens of phone calls, e-mails, and letters (along with a ton of personal identification info) WU still refuses to refund my money and continues to stall and make demands that I furnish them with additional ridiculous information such as the Receiver's birth date, birth place, and other personal info even after I explained repeatedly that I don't personally know the Receiver or speak the language and how does this in any way have any bearing on canceling my transaction? I've used Western Union's "service" twice in my life and lost the money both times. I contacted a lawyer today and will be talking to a News Channel as well to expose this. It's my opinion that Western Union is nothing more than a band of criminals!

If I could put zero stars I would. Why can't they give a reason for the transaction being denied. I sent money using WU Pay. Was instructed to send it again because the first transaction was denied by Western Union. Our bank released the funds now it is going to take 3 to 5 days to get the money back into our account. They suggested going to a physical location. So, what is the purpose of offering online services? They suggested using a credit card, but from what I have seen on the other reviews, same problem. All I can say for Western Union is DO NO USE THEM. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ALSO.

ok will make it short and hopefully one of you at wu will see this. money sent never pick up and asked for the issue that they said to give then 24-48 hrs which I did but never resolve. Again I called and they said the same thing "sorry" that deosnt help. pls stay away from them and use moneygram or go to somewhere else and for that I regret to be their member since 2013 and I will ge the hell out of them once they fixe their "problem".

been on the phone for 1:26 hours trying to resolve an issue. keep getting the runaround. no one knows why I am having a problem trying to send money on line or by phone. keep telling me to go to an agent with cash! (21st Century options?) have written, have emailed, have called in, have complained, have talked to "supervisors," have talked to folk who barely understand or speak English, the list goes on and the problem has NEVER been resolved--going on three years now!! either WU can or cannot send money. do not list countries on your website unless one has the option to send money to these countries (false advertising?). do not have your international operators (who keep you waiting forever and a day before they even answer the phone) attempt to send the money only to come back and tell you it won't go through, but not really have a reason why not? all in all, a miserable experience time and again. Western Union, YOU CAN DO BETTER1

I feel trapped having to use this terrible company. If you use the online service then its not bad but once you have to speak to them on the phone it's a totally different story. I find it very difficult to understand them and they are just so slow to do anything. possibly the worst experience on a phone call I have had in years. if you can avoid this company then I suggest you do. bad beyond belief!!!

I used the western union for sending money to overseas. Transaction was successful and I got a receipt, and also money deduct from my account. But later I got a mail saying I requested to decline which I never did. I called customer care to fix the problem and they were trying to convince me they will fix in 5- 7 business days but it been more than 7days I have not refunded. They are hanging my money for long term because of it I can not used for other purpose.

My son, in another state, needed $100 for school. After reading Western Union's web page stating "Debit or credit card When you use a US bank-issued debit or credit card to send money, your receiver can pick up cash in minutes at an agent location, get the money deposited directly in to their bank account within 4-7 business days, or immediately loaded onto their mobile wallet, depending on their location. " I chose to use my debit card, for the fastest delivery. I received a "tracking number" after inputting all information, and it has now been 3 days. The money has not come out of my account, and western union is saying its because of my bank why its taking so long. But nothing was said about that when I chose to use my debit card. I have used Money Gram before and Money Gram was fast, and easy to use. I WILL NEVER USE WESTERN UNION AGAIN

This service has been extremely beneficial. I have transferred money to myself using WU while travelling to various countries from Latin America to Asia. It saved me the hassle of having to carry vast amounts of cash on long backbacking trips and avoid the poor exchange rates/transaction fees of the local ATMs. I also use WU to keep my overseas bank accounts active. Only slight issue is that I think the transaction fee could be reduced..apart from this, a very good smooth service.
