“badly let down by Saga”

Written on: 30/05/2019

We suffered storm damage to a dovecote on our roof, leaving a very large hole and the roof not weatherproof. I was also concerned that birds/vermin could get into my loft. Nothing was done to progress my claim despite the fact that I repeatedly advised that an urgent temporary repair at least was needed to make the roof weathertight. 10 days later, still nothing had been done to help me get a repair done. Meanwhile the weather had taken a turn for the worse and we experienced heavy… Read Full Review

“Saga Home Emergency left me without heating and hot water!”

Written on: 10/10/2018 by mia345 (1 review written)

I'm with Saga Home Insurance (Customer ref: 4435146) and Home Emergency & recently I had a terrible experience with Saga Home Emergency call out from Ron Law Heating of Southport. I was for two weeks without heating or hot water in spite of paying £24 to get the parts needed overnight. The first lots of parts took 4-5 days to be fitted and then Ron Law needed another part which took another 10 days to fit. Saga informed me that Ron Law heating was wrong to ask for payment of £24 and that Ron… Read Full Review

“Look at the small print as they do!”

Written on: 06/01/2018 by Meghanc68 (1 review written)

Had water pouring out of a central heating boiler. Unable to take off cover as severely disabled. Only way to stop water was to turn off stop tap SAGA said leaks were not covered from boilers. Had to wait two days without water and heating until plumber could attend. The first thing they do is work out why they should not help you. Not worth a light… Read Full Review

“Took out their insurance for home emergency. Very...”

Written on: 19/10/2017 by junaids (2 reviews written)

Took out their insurance for home emergency. Very quick to take your money. But when it came time for a claim, they stepped back and pleaded ignorance, claiming that a third party uses their name and provides the services and thus they are unable to assist. Third party turns out to be none other than the AA and they turned out to be just as devious as SAGA and started delaying tactics then sending their inspector 10 months later, to be told the emergency leak was to be paid for. Now SAGA, have… Read Full Review

“bad service”

Written on: 08/08/2017 by obFarley461 (1 review written)

Called out for leaking tap they said it needed a new washer. Couldn't put tap back again said it was broken, nothing wrong with actual tap beforehand just the washer. Left us with no hot water source downstairs, had to call back the next day as he did something under the sink that had leaked and flooded under sink cupboard, he came out again to stop the leak, said it was fixed and went to his van, had to call him back as it was still leaking. One week later we are still without hot water… Read Full Review

A terribly over rated company, they recently refused my close relative an insurance claim even after he had been with them for many, many years and on top of that they took advantage of his distressed elderly state to sell him more insurance, they are without conscience… Read Full Review

“Saga House Insurance”

Written on: 27/02/2017 by stevehlp (1 review written)

Lost all the coping stones from my roof during storm Doris. Some of them hit a first floor tiled roof that covers my Porch/Garage, causing three holes in that roof. Saga sent out an assessor who told me to get back in touch with them as I needed a temporary repair to prevent water getting into the ceilings, both of which have electrical installations, and which could become dangerous. Spoke to Saga who said I was not covered for temporary repairs and would have to wait for the full repair to be… Read Full Review

Fully agree going through the same scenario with Saga following storm two weeks ago, in all my first Saga experience and it is nothing short of deplorable one star ratings are far too high.
I have made this comment as this is a mirror image of what I am experiencing right now between Saga, Ageas and Virtus the assessors who do not live in the real world.

After providing a genuine builders quote for the repairs to Saga they got Ageas to review it against the Virtus assessors quote. Ageas then readily agreed to my more realistic builders quote and apologised. I received the cheque to cover the repairs the next day.
My faith in Saga / Ageas is now restored.

Hi User.

I'm going to be perfectly blunt here. There is no insurance company in the world that will pay for an old pipe. It's not covered. You might be able to get it fixed under a home emergency policy but they will still charge you.

If you're going to renew elsewhere you need to know that no insurance company pay for the repairs to pipe's it's standard practice.

If there is resulting water damage then that would be covered but the pipe itself would not.

Thanks - LevelHead

“Still waiting after water damage claim”

Written on: 28/10/2016 by Wendy0121 (1 review written)

Early August had a water leak that came through kitchen ceiling, destroying my kitchen ceiling, tiling, fitted kitchen. I had leak repaired, and got quotes for ceiling and kitchen repairs as requested. Saga decided to send out their own surveyor to confirm damage as quotes were quite high. Still no repairs done even though they were going to give go ahead 3 weeks ago. I am cold have no ceiling, half a kitchen. I have heart and lung failure and really would like a service that I have paid for… Read Full Review

“Ridiculous Price Increase”

Written on: 22/09/2016 by cbDriscoll16 (1 review written)

just got my renewal notice for building and contents insurance, last year £46 per month - this year over £70 per month. I had to make a claim for a damaged carpet and was expecting an increase but not this amount. Making and completing that claim was a bit of a SAGA too. Due to the ridiculous increase I shopped around and did not get identical cover but actually got better cover and am paying less than last year. Contacted Saga to advise then I would not be renewing and they said they would… Read Full Review

“Saga Cancelled My Insurance !!”

Written on: 08/08/2016 by NinaWise (1 review written)

I bought a Landlord buildings insurance policy from SAGA on 25 May 2016 only to have it cancelled by SAGA with NO NOTICE whatsoever on 29 July 2016. I paid the full annual premium at the point of purchase. I purchased the policy on the SAGA website and answered all questions truthfully and accurately. It is clear on the website that if a landlord owns 10 or more buy to let properties then cover from SAGA is not available. I do, however, only own 9 (the other 8 are insured through another… Read Full Review

“Saga insurance, what a disgrace. I reported a leak...”

Written on: 05/04/2016 by Batty3786 (1 review written)

Saga insurance, what a disgrace. I reported a leak from a washing machine on 7 December 2015. Here we are in April and I am still waiting for my floor to be relayed and kitchen units to be restored. They seem to think 4 months is acceptable. There is not enough space for me to tell you the full story of Sagas incompetence. I only hope that people who have had a serious flood are not insured with Saga as it could take years for them to complete the job. Be warned avoid them like the plague. … Read Full Review

Jbar's Response to Batty3786's Review

Written on: 12/04/2016

I've currently got my house, contents and car all insured with Saga but will be renewing all three with a decent insurer after the trouble ive had with Saga over my car insurance. This company is not fit for purpose. Steer clear of insuring with Saga unless you want to be out of pocket and have loads of hassle.

“Saga Emergency Cover”

Written on: 19/02/2016 by YoselinCollins402 (1 review written)

Stupidly I was tempted by a cheaper price for this service after 12 years with British Gas. My bad! How foolish of me to have fallen for the glossy brochure and the pleasant saleswoman on the telephone. Worse still, I also moved my Parents cover. My Father has dementia and COPD, requiring oxygen permanently so he cannot ever be without sufficient warmth. I am now petrified that they may need this service during the next 10 months before I can return us both to British Gas. I currently am… Read Full Review

“No contact information or care”

Written on: 12/02/2016 by Ukele (2 reviews written)

For buying insurance, contact with Saga Home Insurance is easy. Thereafter you can search for a claims or help number in whatever downloads or paper documents you have without success. On their website you are referred to your documentation. So you are made to feel like a puppy chasing its own tail. The number for claims in the policy booklet is not the number for claims, but for emergencies. All other numbers tell you their purpose what kind of questions will not be answered. There is no… Read Full Review
