This was our first Hitachi purchase. We bought this tv in December 2015. In April 2016 the tv completely quit working. It was still under warranty with Hitachi. I submitted a clam to them on 4/28. They sent out a tech to attempt to fix it. It was unrepairable. On 5/20 I returned the release to Hitachi and asked that they reimburse us for the tv. To date I have not been reimbursed and they cannot tell me when I can expect to receive my money back. I will NEVER purchase another product from this company.

I purchased my hitachi48HBT62U and sound was not good. No screws for stand in first box and then picture went suddenly after 3 weeks. Returning to argos tomorrow and getting a different make.

£400 wasted, just out of argos guarantee. After 3 days still waiting for argos to email back. TV gone and wish argos could go as quick. Both rubbish.

the tv was only 3 days old when the problems started first on the startup screen part of the wording was missing,no major headache second the backlight would flicker on/off making watch it also most impossible, the sound was very poor anything over 7 would cause the speakers to rattle, and as for been smart tv more like slow even with high speed broadband would take mins to load via wifi went back for a refund

Great TV works brilliant. Wish you could get ITV player and 4od on it though.

after about 16 months of use the sound went away. The picture is great, but no sound. It's great for watching silent movies!

Purchased a Hitachi L47x03pxw dual voltage, dual system TV at a U.S. BX 18 months ago.for $900.00 One week ago the colour suddenly went wonky. People on screen look as if they are massive burn victims and the clarity is totally gone. The screen looks as if there is liquid behind the glass when the telly is switched on. Rang up Hitachi and they claimed they could be of no assistance as the tv was purchased outside of the U.S.! A world wide company that can't access info about their products or even provide a number where I could obtain some sort of assistance! Total rubbish! I read a similar review shortly after purchasing this tv and now I deeply regret that I didn't immediately return this Hitachi rubbish! I wrongly assumed this big brand name was more reliable and customer oriented! Heard very good about Samsung and wish I'd gone that route. Will NEVER buy hitachi again! The customer service people were polite but totally useless. Their "script" strongly suggests that they are there to simply put the customer off! Stay away from this sad lot!

A lot of company's customer service is unfortunately built on hoping the customer will "go away". Call back again, stay polite (and calm) but very persistent, and if they still don't resolve the issue ask to speak to (magic words): Tier 2 support. Plan on repeating your points and staying on the phone for quite a while. If you have any relatives that has a technology blog or belongs to a technical organization, you may want to throw that into the conversation after you've been speaking to Hitachi for a while.

This happens more and more often with cheap components used that last just as long as the warranty. I had a similar issue, I unplugged the unit from the mains removed the back cover, there I found two boards, one green one for TV functions and one beige one for power. I undid the screws on the power one (as my unit would not power up and the plug fuse was OK), looked on the back and could see an area that had burned out. I took a note of the part number that was printed on the board (rather than on any label). I searched for that part number online (mine was 17IPS17-4 Pcb Power Board +Inverter) and found it available for about £30 including delivery. The power circuit board was easy to replace, just removed four screws and moved whatever was plugged into the old into the new. I replaced the fuse in the plug with a lower rated fuse so that it will blow next time rather than pass the current to the TV.

Another thing to point out, the sale of goods act says that a product has to last for a reasonable length of time.
16 months is NOT a reasonable length of time as you will hear on consumer shows daily, so you go to the retailer and when they trot out the usual "you 12 month warranty expired" you respond with, "maybe but 16 months is not a reasonable length of time for a product like this and I will take you to small claims court if you do not repair it free of charge".
They may give all kinds of huff and puff but be totally serious, you will get your Court costs back and the time taken to go to Court.
Also remember that your contract is with the retailer NOT the manufacturer, it is the retailer's obligation.
If you happen to have paid (or part paid) on a credit card for over £100 you get additional rights if the retailer goes bust (e.g. Comet).

I took the faithful leap into 3D with the Hitachi LE55W806 and soon came to realize how Hitachi is so not ready for the game. Can't get a simple answer from Hitachi tech support, "Who makes the 3D glasses and where can I find them?" 3rd party makers of 3D glasses won't support Hitachi. They aren't a serious contender and vendors who make universal glasses aren't willing to spend the time to test their products with a Hitachi 3D TV. No glasses, no 3D. This TV is simply not ready for showtime.

I bought a Hitachi model 55HDS69 in 2008. We liked it when it worked, but to spend close to $3,000 and have it quit in less than 4 years is horrible. Today while watching the tv the picture went completely black. The sound still works though, which would be fine if I was blind. I am now told that it is the lower and upper buffers and that the repair is going to cost me more than $400. Can not tell you how dissappointed I am. One thing I know I will not be buying another Hitachi!!

Hitachi TV Model 37LD8500 requires two inverter boards (quoted £571) £100 more than purchase price. Hitachi UK service stated that parts can fail at any time (22 months use) and offered an insurance cover for £289 for this repair and the next 12 months which in my humble opinion is not acceptable.

18 months later it stopped working, the main circuit board was faulty. It will cost £450 to completely replace the circuit board: Hitachi sent me a letter confirming that "due to the age of the television" (18 months?) they will not assist in the repair. It will be easier and advisable to scrap the television and buy a new one.

This review is for the Hitachi 28 inch C28WF560N CRT tv.I bought it to replace my old Hitachi tv.
The battle between LCD and Plasma rages on,that's why I decided to stay with tried and tested technology.
The picture quality/colour and contrast/blacks and whites is as good as some LCD sets that I have seen.
The set is used with a Digihome hard drive recorder. The tv was purchased from Comet for under £200 inc 3 yrs warranty.

My Hitachi television set, when it worked, had a great picture. I searched around, and I was very pleased with the product until it stopped working. When the technicians had problems fixing the set I was very disappointed with how long it took to get a new TV, and how unimportant Customer service is to Hitachi.
